Promoting reproductive health in Hien Luong village.

On the evening of July 20, 2011, the reproductive health awareness group of the Literature Faculty's volunteer students, in collaboration with the Executive Committee of Youth Union Branch 8 (Hien Ninh commune - Soc Son district - Hanoi), organized a reproductive health awareness session at the Hien Luong village cultural center.Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu (in charge of the reproductive health awareness group) stated that the goal of this program is to promote sex education and reproductive health, guiding young people towards a healthy and safe lifestyle. The awareness session began at 7:00 PM, with over 20 teenagers aged 12 to 17 listening to volunteer students disseminate knowledge about puberty; HIV and HIV prevention; premarital sex; unwanted pregnancies and contraception. Overall, the teenagers were quite hesitant to discuss and share their experiences regarding reproductive health issues. The group will soon be conducting reproductive health awareness campaigns in every village throughout Hien Ninh commune. This is one of the socially significant activities of the 2011 Summer Volunteer Campaign in Hanoi's districts.
