Hello K62 Vietnamese Studies

Monday - September 25, 2017 21:06
On the afternoon of September 23, 2017, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language (VSL) held its Opening Ceremony to welcome the new cohort of students (K62).

In addition to faculty members and numerous students from the Faculty, the ceremony was also attended by Dr. Duong Van Huy (Institute of Southeast Asian Studies – Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) and representatives from the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Following the welcoming remarks by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam (Head of Faculty), the new students watched two special videos. While the first video systematically introduced the history and development of the Faculty, the second video – a gift from senior students specifically for the K62 cohort – presented viewers with a different image of VSL: youthful, dynamic, and engaging.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam delivered a speech at the ceremony.

The cultural program contributed to prolonging the exciting atmosphere of the ceremony with lively performances by K61 and K62, prompting the Head of Department to showcase his talent in singing Nghe Tinh folk songs in response.

The welcoming ceremony by representatives of Vietnamese students studying abroad was also a highlight of the program.

Next was the awards ceremony for new students. The Faculty leadership presented gifts to 11 students who achieved the highest scores in the recent entrance exam.

At the same time, the Faculty also prepared small but meaningful gifts for all K62 students. On this occasion, the Faculty also held a program to honor student Pham Thi Thom (K59) and Dr. Duong Van Huy. In the past academic year, Pham Thi Thom's research project "Sea Rescue Policies under the Gia Long - Minh Mang Dynasties," under the guidance of Dr. Duong Van Huy (Institute of Southeast Asian Studies), won first prize in the student scientific research competition at Hanoi National University. In his thank-you speech, Dr. Duong Van Huy commented: "Thanks to being provided with a systematic and well-structured system of Vietnamese studies knowledge, the students of the Faculty truly impressed me with their clear, coherent thinking and passion for science."

Award presented to Dr. Duong Van Huy.

With a spirit of integration, unity, and humanism, the Opening Ceremony welcoming the K62 cohort signals a new academic year promising many successes for the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language as Hanoi enters its most beautiful autumn days.
