Under the guidance of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Trade Union of Hanoi National University, in the 2016-2017 academic year, the Executive Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities' Trade Union focused on directing and effectively implementing key tasks, programs, and plans. The departmental trade unions implemented appropriate and creative solutions to organize trade union activities, achieving good results. The staff and faculty members made efforts, overcame difficulties, and strived to successfully complete the tasks of the 2016-2017 academic year.
As of June 2017, the School's Trade Union directly managed 530 union members. The staff met the required standards in terms of training qualifications, professional standards, and management standards as stipulated by regulations. They consistently and effectively implemented the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, and industry regulations. They were dedicated to their work, committed to improving their professional skills and abilities, and successfully completed assigned tasks, contributing to the successful achievement of the academic year's objectives.
The responsibilities include caring for the well-being and representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of cadres, teachers, and workers; participating in management and building harmonious and stable labor relations..Actively participate in providing feedback and making adjustments.Internal spending regulationsparticipate in constructionRegulations on Management Hierarchy at the University of Social Sciences and HumanitiesAlong with that, the union proposed and participated in adjusting, building, and perfecting the system of documents and regulations on the union's activities. The Humanities Fund is a highlight in the activities of caring for and sharing with the difficulties in the lives of employees. Last year, the University's Union considered the Humanities Fund to support 5 staff members with particularly difficult circumstances with a total amount of VND 38,000,000. They organized visits and New Year greetings to 10 families of staff members with special circumstances or serious illnesses, and wished longevity to the 80th, 85th, and 90th birthdays of union members on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. The work of participating in salary and bonus reviews, benefits, and insurance procedures was carried out promptly, ensuring the rights and benefits of staff. They promptly received and reflected the opinions of staff members to the University leadership to develop effective solutions. They also organized regular health check-ups for all staff members. The University's Trade Union actively collaborates with other organizations within the University, such as the Veterans Association and the Retired Teachers Association, to organize meaningful and impactful activities. In improving the quality of teaching and learning, the Trade Union has coordinated with the administration to implement innovative teaching methods and strongly apply information technology to teaching, university administration, and scientific research. It actively encourages staff and faculty to use the management software of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh (Chairperson of the School's Trade Union, Head of the Organization and Personnel Department) presented the report summarizing the trade union's activities in the 2016-2017 academic year and outlining key tasks and directions for the 2017-2018 academic year.
The trade union actively promotes and mobilizes teachers and staff to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, and the resolutions and policies of the trade union; and develops the teaching staff and educational management personnel. The trade union proactively organizes or collaborates with the Inspection and Legal Affairs Department to disseminate legal education (either separately or in conjunction with preliminary and final review sessions and training). The content of the dissemination is not limited to basic laws, decrees, and circulars, but also includes many management documents of Hanoi National University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in various fields. This helps staff understand the guidelines, policies, and regulations of the government at all levels, especially those related to the education sector. In the 2016-2017 academic year, the University appointed 3 new Professors and 7 Associate Professors. The total number of Professors/Associate Professors at the University increased to 102.11 Professors and 91 Associate ProfessorsThe faculty accounts for 27.49% of the total number of lecturers. 242 staff members participated in overseas training and work programs, and 233 participated in short-term training courses domestically. A university-level pedagogical training course was organized for 40 lecturers, 15 lecturers were sent to attend a senior lecturer training course, and 48 staff members attended a course to improve their English language skills. The University's Trade Union actively encouraged its members to perform their teaching and scientific research duties well. In the 2016-2017 academic year, the University's staff published 15 monographs and textbooks, including 2 monographs published in English; 603 scientific articles and reports were presented at conferences and published in domestic and international journals, including a total of 42 international scientific reports, of which 4 were in the ISI system, 2 in the Scopus system, and 36 other international publications. The university has won one Ho Chi Minh Prize for Science and Technology and five Science and Technology Prizes from Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities has become stable and is developing well.
In December 2016, the Trade Union successfully organized a seminar titled "The Trade Union and the Learning and Professional Development of Young Union Members." The seminar attracted nearly 150 young union members who offered many practical suggestions and recommendations for training and improving the professional skills of young cadres.
Organizing patriotic emulation movements and large-scale social campaigns. like: "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh”, “Each lecturer is a scientist, a shining example for students to follow.", the emulation movementExcellent at schoolwork, capable at home.”, “Innovation in teaching and learning"actively responding to the campaign""Supporting education in mountainous areas, remote areas, and areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions"...Visiting and giving gifts to disadvantaged students at Van Tho Primary School in Dai Tu District, Thai Nguyen Province – a place where the school's staff and students were previously evacuated. Actively mobilizing staff to donate clothes and books to students in the Central provinces affected by floods. Participating with the Trade Union of Cluster 5 Universities in organizing the construction of staff housing for Van Ho High School, Son La. Actively supporting the Red Cross and the Association of the Blind in Thanh Xuan District. Units that consistently lead in charitable fundraising activities include the Trade Unions of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Faculty of Management Science, Faculty of Linguistics, and the Trade Union of the Rectorate III.

Innovate the content and methods of trade union activities; improve the quality of staff and the effectiveness of trade union activities at all levels in education; build strong trade union organizations; and participate in building a clean and strong Party. Immediately after the 30th Congress, for the 2017-2022 term, the University's Trade Union seriously and scientifically restructured its organization and developed its program and activity plan for the term and each academic year. The Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of the University's Trade Union maintained regular meetings according to the set plan. The Executive Committee of the University's Trade Union always focused on training and developing trade union officials. Through meetings and activities, the Trade Union always paid attention to integrating training and development to improve the skills of trade union officials; sending officials to attend all training courses to enhance their professional skills. The Union consistently paid close attention to and provided guidance on the activities of the People's Inspection Committee of the unit, ensuring that the People's Inspection Committee's activities were carried out in accordance with the regulations and performed its functions and duties as prescribed by law. In the past academic year, the People's Inspection Committee and the Executive Committee of the University's Trade Union did not receive any complaints or denunciations. The union successfully carried out activities to recruit new members and recommend outstanding union members for Party membership. In the 2016-2017 academic year, 15 new union members were recruited; 11 union members were recommended for Party membership.
Women's work has achieved many successes..The Women's Committee of the University's Trade Union actively and proactively implements activities under its responsibility. The University's Trade Union always cares for and encourages female staff and employees through specific programs such as commending and rewarding women who achieve high performance in their work; encouraging and visiting female staff and employees with particularly difficult circumstances; organizing meetings and field trips to historical and cultural sites in Hanoi on March 8th, and visiting and surveying the Stone Church, Phat Diem, Kim Son, and Cuc Phuong National Park in Ninh Binh on October 20th. They also organize ceremonies to honor outstanding students who are children of staff and employees, and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations for children, as well as Children's Day on June 1st, with vibrant and engaging theatrical performances at the Vietnam Puppet Theatre, attracting a large number of children. Furthermore, they encourage all staff to effectively implement family planning programs. 100% of the departmental trade unions have no members having a third child, effectively implementing gender equality initiatives. Over 90% of female staff members have achieved the title of "Excellent at work, excellent at home."
External relations activities.Encouraging and motivating departmental trade unions to organize field surveys and exchanges with other trade unions for their members aims to broaden relationships and understanding, thereby motivating members to successfully complete their assigned tasks. In practice, many departmental trade unions have successfully organized this task. The University Trade Union is always active and proactive in the activities of the cluster of 5 University Trade Unions, contributing to building and promoting the prestige, position, and effectiveness of the cluster of 5 University Trade Unions.
Inspection work The School's Trade Union Executive Committee and departmental trade unions operate strictly in accordance with the regulations and charter of the Trade Union. The Trade Union Inspection Committee actively advises and assists the Executive Committee and Standing Committee in strengthening comprehensive inspection work and checking compliance with the Trade Union Charter. The Trade Union Standing Committee effectively directs the activities of the People's Inspection Committee.

The conference heard the financial report of the School's Trade Union.
The financial and economic activities of the trade union are carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, with quarterly and annual records of income and expenditure, and are approved by the Vietnam Education Trade Union in terms of budget and final accounts. The Standing Committee of the School's Trade Union actively cooperates with the professional departments in activities to increase welfare resources for the collective, supplement funds to support trade union activities, and improve the material and spiritual lives of staff and employees. As a result, the additional income of staff and employees has gradually increased year by year.
During the 2016-2017 academic year, the school's trade union successfully implemented six work programs of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, 14th term, 2013-2018.
During the conference, 78 individuals and 12 groups were awarded by various levels of trade unions. Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University, received a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
