IN-Wallonie-Bruxellus International Talent Scholarship Program

From 2008-2009, as part of efforts to promote the sending/receiving of students, researchers, and lecturers to study and conduct research abroad, Wallonie-Bruxellus International (WBI - the International Cooperation Agency of the French-speaking Belgian Community and the Wallonie Region) established a new scholarship program:IN.WBI Talent Scholarship.

From 2008-2009, as part of efforts to promote the sending/receiving of students, researchers, and lecturers to study and conduct research abroad, Wallonie-Bruxellus International (WBI - the International Cooperation Agency of the French-speaking Belgian Community and the Wallonie Region) established a new scholarship program:IN.WBI Talent Scholarship.

The IN.WBI scholarship program is for foreign nationals who already hold a master's degree from a foreign university and whose qualifications are recognized by the competent authorities of Wallonie-Bruxellus. This program is for applicants wishing to pursue advanced training, conduct specialized research, or complete a doctoral or postdoctoral program at universities within the French-speaking Belgian Community or universities funded by the Community.

Thus, the IN.WBI scholarship program is perfectly suited to Vietnamese applicants and helps create opportunities for outstanding Vietnamese master's and doctoral students to further their education in Wallonia and Brussels.

Key requirements for candidates

This refers to individuals holding a master's degree awarded by a foreign university, and that degree must be recognized by the competent authorities of Wallonie-Bruxelles as equivalent to a Belgian master's degree.

Scholarship program

  • Doctoral or postdoctoral scholarships are awarded for a minimum of one year and can be renewed a maximum of two times;
  • Short-term research scholarships are offered for periods ranging from 1 to 3 months.

Field

The priority areas are those included in the Wallonia Region's MARSHALL plan:

  • Transportation and logistics
  • Mechanical
  • Life Sciences
  • Agriculture - Industry
  • Aerospace

All other fields within the humanities, basic sciences, or applied sciences may be considered..

Application deadline:

  • For doctoral or postdoctoral scholarships with a minimum duration of one year: March 1, 2009 for the 2009-2010 academic year.
  • For research scholarships: applications are accepted every three years. The two upcoming deadlines are:
    For study periods between June and September 2009: applications must be submitted before March 1, 2009.
    For study periods scheduled between October 2009 and January 2010: applications must be submitted before June 1, 2009.
    + For study periods between February and May 2010: submit applications before November 1, 2009 (awaiting confirmation).
