Attending the seminar were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa - Vice Rector of the University, and more than 60 female staff members, members of the University's Trade Union Executive Committee and departmental trade unions.
At the seminar, Associate Professor Dr. Le Thi Minh Loan, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the University's Trade Union, presented the report summarizing the women's activities in 2013 and the work plan for women in 2014.
Several presentations by female staff members were highly appreciated by the delegates at the seminar, including: “Scientific Research among Female Lecturers and the Issue of International Publication” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Kim Oanh (Faculty of Philosophy), “Female Lecturers and the Issue of Continuing Education to Meet Standards: Reality in the Faculty of Literature and Some Recommendations” by PhD Candidate Nguyen Thi Nam Hoang (Faculty of Literature), and “Female Staff and Staff with Scientific Research and Continuing Education to Meet Standards” (Dr. Pham Thu Hoa - Postgraduate Training Department).
The discussions and presentations focused on analyzing the advantages and disadvantages faced by female staff in scientific research and further education to meet standards, especially the difficulties in completing doctoral programs. All opinions indicated that female staff in scientific research and studies often face more challenges than their male counterparts and require greater support from their families and organizations.
In recent times, the Party, the State, and the University have paid attention to and provided time and material resources for cadres in general, and female cadres in particular, to improve their qualifications through further education. However, overall, there has been no groundbreaking policy. Therefore, female cadres themselves need to set specific goals and strive to overcome all challenges to excel in their research and further education.
To facilitate the successful completion of the doctoral program for female staff members and to help them quickly meet the required qualifications, the seminar proposed that the University implement several solutions specifically for female doctoral students.
Speaking at the seminar, Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa highly appreciated the activities of the Women's Committee of the University's Trade Union and the efforts of female staff members in the past. The Associate Professor expressed confidence and hope that in the future, the female staff and employees of the University will continue to build upon their achievements, strive to excellently fulfill their professional duties as well as social and union activities, and actively contribute to making the University a research university and quickly joining the ranks of advanced universities in the region and the world.
