Exchange opportunities for USSH students in Wales.

On April 20th, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities welcomed a delegation from Cardiff University, Wales, with the aim of collaborating and developing exchange programs for students from both sides.

Attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the university, Ms. Luong Ngoc Vinh - Deputy Head of the Cooperation and Development Department, and representatives from other departments. Representing Cardiff University were Prof. Kenneth Hamilton - Rector, Dr. Monika Hennemann - Vice Rector, and Ms. Anne Morgan - Head of the Cooperation and Development Department.

Associate Professor Dang Thi Thu Huong welcomed the delegation on their first visit to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and their first visit to Vietnam. Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong emphasized the university's multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary training, as well as its support for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs. The university organizes numerous short-term courses annually and welcomes hundreds of international students. She expressed hope that this visit would be the beginning of cooperation, exchange, and improvement in teaching quality between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Cardiff University.

On behalf of Cardiff University, Professor Kenneth Hamilton expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome. He also shared some information about Cardiff University: Ranked #166 globally in the QR World University Rankings 2023 and among the top 24 research universities in the UK, it is the main research campus in Wales, with over 33,000 students. The university is particularly strong in the Social Sciences with fields such as Journalism, Psychology, Linguistics, and Philosophy – a commonality with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The university also offers Natural Sciences such as Biology and Pharmacy. The university's facilities are fully equipped, with equipment typically found only at Cardiff and Harvard.

The delegation representatives also shared that Cardiff University has many relationships with universities in China, Brazil, Belgium, Malaysia, and Singapore. Professor Kenneth Hamilton expressed his desire to learn more about the exchange programs available at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, especially regarding Project 89. He also expressed his wish to design a collaborative program and was ready to provide online courses if needed. Through these collaborative programs, the university hopes to promote the exchange of staff and students, thereby strengthening close ties with the government and creating more opportunities for cooperation in various fields.
