This was the topic of a seminar organized by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Trade Union in collaboration with the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on January 25, 2013. Attendees included Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao and Mr. Nguyen Quang Lieu, Vice Presidents of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Trade Union, along with representatives of trade union members from various departmental trade unions of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The Strategic Mission (SN) is a major initiative of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) to build and develop training programs and specializations that meet international standards. This aims to create the foundation and conditions for the development of departments, faculties, member universities, and VNU itself, gradually achieving international standards, thereby improving the quality of training, research, knowledge transfer, enhancing competitiveness, and developing the VNU brand. After more than four years of implementing the SN, the first product of this program was 129 students from the QH-2008-X cohort in the fields of Electronics and Telecommunications, Computer Science, Business Administration, and Linguistics, who graduated in 2012. At the seminar, union members shared many personal and organizational experiences of the union in implementing the SN at their respective units. Because the National Training Program (NVCL) is a groundbreaking task requiring significant effort and a high level of perseverance in overcoming practical training challenges, numerous concerns have arisen during its implementation. In this context, the trade union, acting as a source of moral support for its members and a unifying force for the staff, needs to be more actively involved in resolving these issues. The seminar recorded many suggestions, including: the need for the trade union to improve its communication and explanation efforts to raise awareness and determination among its members regarding the implementation of the NVCL in its units; the importance of listening to the difficulties, concerns, and aspirations of its members during the practical implementation of the NVCL to provide timely support; and the need for the trade union to take the lead and act as a core force in mobilizing staff to actively participate in the NVCL, as well as actively improve their professional skills, foreign language proficiency, and advocate for reforms in the training management mechanism. The trade union closely and comprehensively cooperates with the government in reviewing and proposing timely adjustments to address inconsistencies arising in the implementation of the National Target Program on Social Sciences and Humanities at all stages: program development, organizational procedures, output standards, and staff development. In addition, opinions affirmed that the key to successful implementation of the National Target Program on Social Sciences and Humanities is to create consensus, solidarity, and high determination within each staff member. Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu (Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) stated: "Don't complacently rely on what you already have, but look further ahead. Consider the National Target Program on Social Sciences and Humanities as a way to gradually surpass yourself. We must start with what we currently have, not just wait until all the favorable conditions are met before starting. And we must strive even harder, otherwise what we are doing and what we have achieved initially will be in vain." Comrade Nguyen Thi Thao (Vice President of the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi) commented: after 4 years of implementing the strategic plan, many initial difficulties have been resolved during the process, many goals, roadmaps, and solutions have been clearly defined and are more feasible, therefore "the important thing is that we must have faith and be united".
