With her active contributions to promoting French literature in Vietnam, Associate Professor Dang Thi Hanh (former lecturer of the Faculty of Literature - Hanoi University of Science, now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU) was honored to receive the Order of Academic Palms of the French Republic. The ceremony took place on February 21, 2013 at the French Cultural Center, Hanoi.The Order of Academic Palms is one of the oldest and most prestigious awards of the French Republic given to people who have made special contributions to education, science and research. The Ambassador highly appreciated the role of Associate Professor Dang Thi Hanh in disseminating culture, especially French literature in Vietnam. "Thanks to her research and translations, French literature in the 19th and 20th centuries has become known in Vietnam" - Ambassador Jean Noel Poirier emphasized.

During her 25 years working at the University, Associate Professor Dang Thi Hanh has participated in training many students in French literature as well as instilling a love of French literature in these students. In addition, Associate Professor Dang Thi Hanh has also participated in building the French Literature curriculum in high schools and universities in the country. She has also made many important contributions to training young Vietnamese translators. In particular, her research on Victor Hugo and French poets in the 20th century is a prestigious work, highly appreciated by experts. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the University of Indochina, she translated the book Letters of Hanoi by Jean Tardieu. The publication of the book has left many marks on the life of Vietnamese literature and is also a testament to the colonial situation in Indochina in the 1930s.
