To improve the quality of training and connect training with societal needs, on the morning of January 26, 2013, the Faculty of Linguistics organized a meeting and exchange between students and lecturers of the Faculty with alumni and employers.
To improve the quality of training and connect training with societal needs, on the morning of January 26, 2013, the Faculty of Linguistics organized a meeting and exchange between students and lecturers of the Faculty with alumni and employers.Attending the exchange session, in addition to faculty, students and alumni of the department, were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep - Director of the Institute of Linguistics, and Dr. Nguyen Khanh Ha - representative of the Institute of Lexicography and Encyclopedia, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai - Head of the Culture, Sports and Social Affairs Department of VTV2, Mr. Pham Xuan Chien - Editor-in-Chief of the Law Protection Newspaper, Mr. Vu Minh Hoan - General Secretary of the 24h News Editorial Board, and many delegates from training institutions, research agencies, press and media agencies, businesses..., who have had close cooperation and ties with the Faculty of Linguistics over the years. During the more than 3-hour exchange, students of the Faculty of Linguistics had the opportunity to exchange opinions, share experiences, and have many questions answered by recruiters and alumni on issues of interest, from employer requirements, work experience, necessary knowledge and skills for job applications and work, to the content of the training program, output standards, teaching and learning methods, etc. Mr. Vu Minh Hoan, General Secretary of the 24h News Editorial Board, where six former Linguistics students are currently working, highly appreciated the knowledge and capabilities of the recruiters and alumni. While acknowledging the capabilities of linguistics students, it was also suggested that they need to be more proactive and confident in their work. Mr. Pham Xuan Chien – Editor-in-Chief of the Law Protection Newspaper and Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai – Head of the Culture, Sports and Social Affairs Department of VTV2, answered many student questions about recruitment requirements and journalistic experience. Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep – Director of the Institute of Linguistics – addressed many student concerns about recruitment needs and standards, and offered suggestions to improve the quality of training. Dr. Nguyen Khanh Ha (Institute of Lexicography and Encyclopedia), Dr. Do Thi Hien (Institute of Linguistics), Ms. Nguyen Van Lam (Institute of Linguistics), Editor Lam Chieu (former student of K50)… also shared valuable experiences in studying and working with the students. In particular, all employers from research institutions, newspapers, and media outlets have committed to creating favorable conditions for Linguistics students to intern and gain practical experience, and are ready to hire Linguistics students after graduation if they meet the recruitment requirements.
