Many students directly asked the speaker questions on issues such as: the U.S. Congress's stance on the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP) negotiations, solutions to create equal treatment between male and female workers in the United States, the importance of litigation, the principles that give lasting value to the Constitution, the importance of case law in the United States, the role of public defenders, etc.

Senator Patrick Joseph Leahy is a senior senator elected from the state of Vermont. He was the youngest first-elected senator (in 1975) in the history of the U.S. legislature. Senator Patrick Joseph Leahy is a member of the Democratic Party and serves as the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
