Receive and work with Professor Briesen, University of Giessen (Germany)

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh warmly welcomed the presence of Prof. Detlef Briesen as a representative of the University of Giessen, Germany. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Giessen have had many effective cooperations for more than 10 years. The cooperation activities of the two schools include the exchange of lecturers and students, the implementation of joint research projects, especially the organization of international conferences. In November 2013, the two sides jointly organized the conference "Population, health and medicine in developing countries: The case of Vietnam from the 18th century to the present". The conference was highly appreciated both domestically and internationally and caused a great resonance.

Based on the above cooperation achievements, Professor Detlef Briesen proposed new cooperation in the future in the fields of teaching, research and organizing seminars. As planned, Professor Briesen will continue to work at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and teach students in the faculties of Political Science, History, Archival Studies, etc. In addition, he will also be a visiting lecturer at the University.

Regarding the cooperation in organizing seminars, the two sides have agreed to co-organize a seminar with the theme “International Experiences on the Rule of Law State: Lessons for Vietnam” (expected) in September 2014 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to share experiences on the rule of law state between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany. In addition, the two sides will also organize a seminar with the theme “War, Health and Environment” taking place in Vinh in early 2015. These are plans that promise to bring many benefits to students and lecturers of the two schools as well as promote cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of both sides agreed to have more specific discussions to soon develop and implement the proposed cooperation plans.

It is known that in July 2012, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities visited Giessen University and agreed on the main cooperation goals between the two sides.
