With a total score of 25.5, candidate Tran Thi Bich Huong became one of the two top students in block C of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2011. Notably, Huong also achieved the highest score in the History exam in the entire VNU. The USSH reporter team went to her house and met her on a rainy day in the first days of the rainy season. After getting acquainted, Huong quickly overcame her initial awkwardness and confided in us more openly. Sharing about her learning process, she said: History was not her first choice. In middle school, she studied Literature more, and pursuing Literature was her dream. However, the results were not as expected. When she took the entrance exam to the Literature class at Thai Nguyen Specialized School, she was 0.25 points short and had to switch to History. Therefore, she came to History as if she had more fate. Although Literature and History are both social subjects and have similarities, each subject also has its own characteristics. Therefore, at first, she also encountered difficulties. Luckily, her homeroom teacher and friends helped her a lot, and gradually she adapted to the new environment in the History class.

Discussing the method of studying History, she said: History cannot be learned in a short time and known immediately, there are also many history books, history textbooks have many difficult to remember figures so few people like to study History. At first, I was not very interested, but after being exposed to History a lot, I became passionate, loved History and attached to History. I chose to take the exam for the History Faculty of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities because I wanted to continue to learn about History and if I become a teacher in the future, I hope to pass on my passion and love for History to my students. Although I know that many students do not major in this subject, they will still respect history and promote national traditions. Passionate about History, respecting History, Huong always tries to study well. During her study process, Huong has achieved many achievements, in grade 10 she won third prize in the provincial History competition for excellent students; in grade 11 she won first prize at the provincial level, third prize at the national level; and grade 12 won second prize at the provincial level, first prize at the national level. For 12 consecutive years, she has been an excellent student. She has achieved that achievement because she has always tried hard, overcome difficult circumstances to study well. Talking more with her, we learned: Her family has 4 people: grandmother, mother, Huong and a younger sister, her father passed away more than 3 years ago. This is the biggest disadvantage and difficulty for her because her father passed away right when she was taking the transfer exam. Her grandmother, mother, teachers and friends have encouraged and shared with her a lot. She feels that she still needs to continue to strive to study well to not disappoint the expectations of her grandmother, mother, teachers and friends...

Another difficulty that we learned when talking with Ms. Pham Thi Bich Huong (Huong's mother) was that her health had not been good since she was a child due to intestinal inflammation. There was a time when her mother had to take her to the K hospital for testing. Luckily, she was fine. Due to the difficult material conditions, her family could only encourage and motivate her to try to study hard, all due to her academic ability. When she heard that she was the valedictorian, she did not believe it and had to ask her to check if it was correct. Knowing that she had passed the university entrance exam was already a great joy, but being the valedictorian was even more joyful - Huong's mother shared. Not only Huong's mother, but even Huong herself was very surprised when she found out that she had passed the valedictorian exam, she did not expect it to be like that. Telling us about her feelings at that time, Huong said: When I heard the results, I was "frozen", only when I knew exactly that I had passed the valedictorian exam could I smile. Although the result is not too high, I am very happy because my efforts in studying have been rewarded to some extent, I am also satisfied with what I have done. Although I have achieved high results and am satisfied with what I have done, Huong still strives, she said: I will take the exam to enter the high-quality class. In the future, I will find a suitable job and help my family. Huong modestly said: I do not want to aim for something too big, I want to set in the near future, such small goals will be easier to achieve and I will do it gradually... And a new stage in my learning process is about to begin, surely for me the difficulties are not small. Although the time we met her was only a few hours, we felt that she had the strength of will, determination with passion and belief in the goals she strived for...
