On the morning of February 18, 2012, at the Hanoi Grand Opera House, the Ministry of Science and Technology held the awarding ceremony for the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Science and Technology in 2010.This year's awards were presented to 176 scientists who authored 32 works and groups of works in 5 fields: natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, medicine, agriculture, and engineering; including 12 works and groups of works that won the Ho Chi Minh Prize, and 20 works and groups of works that won the State Prize for Science and Technology. In this award ceremony, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi) had 2 lecturers awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and 3 lecturers awarded the State Prize for Science and Technology, namely: 1. The late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong (Faculty of History): Ho Chi Minh Prize for the group of works "Vietnamese Culture: Tradition and Modernity". 2. Professor Ha Minh Duc (Faculty of Journalism and Communication): Ho Chi Minh Prize for the group of works "The Literary and Journalistic Career of Ho Chi Minh and Some Theoretical and Practical Issues of Vietnamese Culture and Arts". 3. Professor Doan Thien Thuat (Faculty of Linguistics): State Award for his work on Vietnamese phonetics. 4. Professor Nguyen Thien Giap (Faculty of Linguistics): State Award for his work on Vietnamese vocabulary and lexical studies. 5. Associate Professor Nguyen Thua Hy (Faculty of History): State Award for his work on Thang Long - Hanoi in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Thus, to date, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has had 10 teachers awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and 16 teachers awarded the State Prize for science and technology.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang affirmed that all the projects and groups of projects awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize this time are outstanding works of high value, the result of diligent research, intellectual contributions, and talent of scientists.
