Studying away from home since grade 6, and understanding her father's hardships, Pham Thi Bich Ngoc from the Literature class of Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted (Viet Tri city - Phu Tho) has excelled and become one of the two valedictorians of Block C of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with a score of 26.5 (Literature: 8.0; History: 9.0 and Geography: 9.25).Coming to Ngoc's house in a small street in Nong Trang ward, Viet Tri city, the first impression is of a female student with a bright, intelligent and very individual face. Ngoc is the eldest child in a family of two children, her father is a border guard officer who often has to be away from home, her mother is a housewife. Previously, Ngoc's family lived in Xuan Huy commune, Lam Thao district and has just moved to Viet Tri city for two years. Being aware of studying from a young age, outside of class, Ngoc rarely goes out but studies by herself and loves to read books. That is why Ngoc has been an excellent student for 12 consecutive years. In the 10th grade entrance exam in 2007-2008, Ngoc was the valedictorian of Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted. From grade 6 to grade 12, she always won first and second prizes in Literature at the provincial level. In particular, she also won the Gold Medal for Literature in grade 10 at the Hung Vuong summer camp of 16 provinces in the Northern region. In the recent high school graduation exam, Ngoc was one of the students with the highest score in the class with 53 points. Her Literature score of only 6.5 did not discourage her, but it was the motivation for her to strive to once again register for her valedictorian achievement. "When I saw the university entrance exam scores online, I was surprised that I could get a high score and be the valedictorian of the school" - Ngoc could not hide her joy. Although studying at a specialized school, Ngoc has never been to a university entrance exam preparation center. The basic secret that helped Ngoc achieve such impressive achievements, according to her, is to have a firm grasp of the knowledge in the textbooks and each subject has its own learning method. She is also known as a "bookworm". Initially, Ngoc's dream was to become a cultural researcher, but she thought it was impractical, so she decided to register for the Oriental Studies major after receiving advice from many people. In addition to studying, Ngoc also teaches her younger brother extra lessons and helps her mother go to the market and cook. Although living in the city, Ngoc is still not proficient in riding a motorbike. Having achieved this day, she just wants to share the joy and silently thank her parents, teachers and friends who have always helped, encouraged and been by her side. Commenting on her student, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh (Ngoc's homeroom teacher) said: "Ngoc is a responsible class monitor, intelligent and well-behaved. She always carries within her the image of her father - a border guard working at the border of the Fatherland to remind herself to try harder". Talking about her plans, the new valedictorian of block C at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities shared: "First, I will study foreign languages well because it will help me be active and give me more job opportunities in the future. I hope to become an interpreter".
