On February 23, 2012, the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held its 2nd Congress (term 2012 - 2017). Attending the Congress were representatives of the leaders of the Association of Former Teachers of VNU, the Party Committee - Board of Directors and members of the branches of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.At the Congress, delegates listened to and discussed the “Summary Report of the First Term Activities and the Working Orientation for the Second Term” and elected the Executive Committee for the Second Term (2012-2017). The Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was established on December 23, 2006, and the first Congress of the Association was also held at the same time. The Association includes retired teachers and civil servants of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Association is organized into 6 branches: Foreign Languages Branch, Vietnamese Language and Culture Branch, Rector's Office Branch, Literature - Language - Journalism Branch, History - Archives - International - Oriental - Tourism - Library Information Branch, Philosophy - Society - Psychology - Marxist-Leninist - Social Management Branch. After 5 years of operation (2006 - 2011), the Association has well implemented the main activities such as: developing members, caring about the lives of members, organizing visits, meetings and exchanges... Especially, the organization of political and scientific activities has received the attention and response of members. Although retired, many teachers continue to participate in teaching and scientific research. According to incomplete statistics, in the 2009 - 2010 school year alone, the total number of teaching hours of teachers is: more than 2000 periods, guiding 15 doctoral theses, 16 master's theses, publishing 62 research articles in scientific journals, publishing 16 books. In addition, a number of former teachers after retirement have actively participated in social work activities in the locality.
However, the work of developing members is still limited due to not closely following the number of retired staff. In the next term, the Association will continue to focus on developing members, strengthening the role of the Association's branches, and strengthening the Association's activities within the entire school. Speaking at the Congress, on behalf of the school's leadership, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh thanked the veteran teachers and former staff of the school for their contributions to building and developing the school. The principal hopes that under the leadership of the Executive Committee elected at this Congress, the School's Former Teachers' Association will have more diverse forms of organization and activities to continue to gather and promote the enthusiasm, intelligence and valuable capacity of teachers and former staff in the cause of building and developing the school. At the Congress, the delegates elected the Executive Committee of the School's Former Teachers' Association for the 2012-2017 term, consisting of 11 people.
