The Association of Retired Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was established on December 23, 2006, and its first Congress was also held at the same time. The Association consists of retired teachers and staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Association is organized into 6 branches: the Foreign Language branch, the Vietnamese Language and Culture Department branch, the Rector's Office branch, the Literature - Language - Journalism branch, the History - Archival - International - Oriental - Tourism - Library and Information branch, and the Philosophy - Sociology - Psychology - Marxist-Leninist Philosophy - Social Management branch. After 5 years of operation (2006-2011), the Association successfully carried out its main activities such as: developing membership, caring for the lives of members, organizing visits and social gatherings… In particular, the organization of political and scientific activities received attention and support from members. Even after retirement, many teachers continued to participate in teaching and scientific research. According to incomplete statistics, in the 2009-2010 academic year alone, the total number of teaching hours by teachers was over 2000, they supervised 15 doctoral dissertations, 16 master's theses, published 62 research papers in scientific journals, and published 16 books. In addition, some retired teachers actively participated in social work activities in their localities.

However, membership development has been limited due to a lack of close monitoring of the number of retired staff and employees. In the next term, the Association will continue to focus on membership development, strengthening the role and activities of the branches, and expanding the Association's activities throughout the university. Speaking at the Congress, on behalf of the University leadership, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh thanked the veteran teachers and former staff members of the University for their contributions to building and developing the University. The Rector hoped that under the leadership of the Executive Committee elected at this Congress, the University's Association of Retired Teachers would have more diverse forms of organization and activities to continue gathering and utilizing the enthusiasm, intellect, and valuable abilities of teachers and retired staff members in the cause of building and developing the University. At the Congress, delegates elected the Executive Committee of the University's Association of Retired Teachers for the 2012-2017 term, consisting of 11 members.
