Dear

Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front

Leaders of Hanoi National University and teachers

Dear grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, friends near and far, and all bereaved family members,

Dear soul of Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Hang!

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Hang, an exemplary teacher, our beloved and close comrade, is no longer with us. The passionate heart of a person devoted to the cause of education, always concerned about the problems of the country and the people, stopped beating at 9:14 p.m. on April 1, February 18, Mau Tuat year, in the infinite sorrow of his family, relatives, friends, colleagues and students.

Today, we are here to commemorate and bid farewell to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Hang - a lifelong cadre who devoted himself to carrying out and completing all tasks assigned by the Party, State and society, to the eternal world.

Associate Professor, Dr., Meritorious Artist Pham Xuan Hang was born on May 15, 1950 in a farming family in Thuong Hien commune, Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province - a countryside rich in cultural and humanistic values, as he once wrote, "the countryside is poor but the lullabies are not poor". Orphaned at an early age, in 1966, he and his younger sister followed their mother to Lao Cai to reclaim land. Thanks to the teachings and profound influence of his mother's decisive, bold, and courageous will, she raised him not only with "heavy corn kernels, children still have a way to go" but also with "lullabies embracing the whole land and sky of the homeland".

After graduating from high school, he was sent by the State to the Soviet Union to study Archives - History. Returning home, he became a lecturer at the Department of Archives, then the Department of Historical Materials, under the Faculty of History. The new field, the new job seemed to challenge the young cadre's efforts to surpass himself. He devoted himself to new lectures and from here, made many contributions to the development of the Department and the major of Historical Materials.

In 1988, he was sent to study at the Moscow School of Archives and History - the school that led him to the career he would pursue for life. Since those years, his knowledge has been enriched, becoming a launching pad for his later scientific works. His textbooks and monographs on Historical Materials are valuable scientific documents for the industry. In the past 10 years, despite being busy with management work and his health declining due to age and illness, he has still devoted much effort and enthusiasm to work with his colleagues to build the Management Science industry, which has now become the Faculty of Management Science with significant contributions to the industry and to society.

Not only devoted to the teaching profession, Associate Professor, Meritorious Professor Pham Xuan Hang is also a responsible and capable leader and manager, always dedicated to completing assigned tasks and responsibilities. Starting from the position of Deputy Head of the History Department in 1992, he continuously held the positions of Vice Principal in 1995, then Party Secretary in 1999, and Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi. During the 10 years as Vice Principal and then Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, he devoted all his efforts, enthusiasm, and initiatives to the cause of education, contributing to the development of the school, creating conditions to affirm its position as a leading university, a heroic university. With a strong will, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn, especially with a high sense of responsibility and a kind heart, he dared to take on difficulties, work side by side with colleagues, and mature quickly from practice.

In 2005, he was assigned to work at the Hanoi Party Committee, and was elected by the City Party Committee as a member of the Standing Committee and Head of the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department. Many cadres and Party members still remember him in the role of a Head of the Propaganda Department who was closely involved in the vibrant reality of the capital's life, enthusiastic, honest, and practical in propaganda work, disseminating the policies and guidelines of the Party and State to the grassroots. Then, when implementing the National Assembly's Resolution to expand the capital's boundaries, for the common cause, he transferred to take on the task of Chairman of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front. In this new position, he made many important contributions, implemented many initiatives, was close to the people, loved and trusted by the people. Not only did he do a good job of organizing and mobilizing the masses, implementing the motto of great national unity, he also actively participated in social criticism. He was not afraid of difficult issues and thorny realities, and actively participated in democratizing the work of the Front. It seems that his passionate thoughts now have more conditions to promote and contribute to the country. He has become a place to send many aspirations of the people, bringing the people's trust to the government. In 2015, although he had transferred to work at the University, he was still trusted by the Vietnam Fatherland Front to be elected as the non-professional Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

In all the agencies and units where he worked, everyone always remembers him as a colleague, a leader who is proficient in his profession, steadfast in principles, decisive, energetic but also knows how to listen, dares to change himself for the better. The greatest thing about him is his honesty, straightforwardness, steadfastness in all problems, sharing and humanity. Working with him, colleagues find trust, solid support and goodwill towards good things. Since the day they received the news of his passing, many colleagues, friends and students have sent to the school their deep condolences, affection and regret for a colleague, a comrade, a teacher who has left this world early.

Dear ladies and gentlemen!

For his contributions to the education sector, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor, Meritorious Teacher, First Class Labor Medal, two Third Class Labor Medals, National Emulation Fighter, and many certificates of merit at all levels. He is not only a Party member with more than 30 years of Party membership but also an exemplary Party member, a true and genuine communist. He is the embodiment of the intellectual class that has been nurtured by the people and the regime, daring to choose and go all the way on the path that he believes is right.

In his family, he was a dutiful son, a loving husband, a strict but kind father, and a beloved grandfather to his grandchildren. He also fulfilled his responsibilities not only to his family, both paternal and maternal sides, but also to his beloved hometown of Thai Binh.

With the passing of Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Hang, his family has lost a loved one who wholeheartedly loved and cared for the happiness and traditions of the family and clan; his friends and neighbors have lost a friend and neighbor who was always gentle and cheerful with everyone; his colleagues, friends and students have lost a teacher who devoted his whole life to the school, an exemplary cadre in terms of simplicity, enthusiasm and loyalty to his career. He has passed away peacefully, but he has also left behind his children, relatives, loved ones, friends and colleagues with an inconsolable longing.

Dear soul of Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Hang!

Dear ladies and gentlemen!

Dear bereaved family!

During his serious illness, although the doctors did their best to treat him and his children and grandchildren took care of him, who can escape birth, aging, sickness, and death? He has left us forever. Please allow us, on behalf of the Funeral Organizing Committee, colleagues, friends, comrades, students, relatives, neighborhood... to share this pain of loss with his family. May his soul rest in peace.

Before saying goodbye and sending him to his final resting place, please take a minute of silence. The moment of silence begins.

Thank you very much!
