Meeting with retired officials to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Rooster 2017

The Party Committee, the School Board, the Trade Union, and the leaders of various functional departments attended the meeting.

Associate Professor Nguyen Van Ham, Vice President of the University's Retired Teachers Association, delivered a speech summarizing the Association's activities in 2016. The Association currently has 258 members. With the motto "Happy - Healthy - Useful," the Association has carried out many meaningful activities and consistently connected its members with the University's overall activities. Last year, the Association organized a seminar to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Hanoi University. Also on this occasion, the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the Trade Union, the Youth Union, and the Association visited Van Tho commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province – where the University was evacuated during the American imperialist war of destruction. The University awarded 30 scholarships to underprivileged students, presented gifts of gratitude to families, and engaged in friendly exchanges with local leaders and residents. The Association, together with the Association of Retired Faculty Members of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, organized and participated in visits to historical and cultural sites and famous scenic spots such as: Ba Vang Pagoda (Quang Ninh), Con Son - Kiet Bac (Hai Duong), Trang An spiritual ecological area - Bai Dinh Pagoda - Phat Diem Cathedral (Ninh Binh)... Driven by their love for the profession, health conditions, and professional work requirements, many educators still actively participate in teaching, supervising postgraduate students and doctoral candidates; participating in scientific councils, writing research papers and reference books... At each spring gathering and on the anniversaries of the profession, generations of lecturers, staff, and employees of the University gather amicably, and are informed by the Faculties and the University about the activities and outstanding achievements that the University has achieved each year.

Professor Nguyen Van Kim, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University, acknowledged the activities of the Retired Faculty Association, noting its strong bond and reliable support for the Party Committee and the University's Board of Directors. Professor Nguyen Van Kim briefly reported on the outstanding achievements of the University in 2016. He noted that the University's stable and sustainable development, towards its long-term goals, has always been supported by the encouragement, care, and contributions of retired lecturers, staff, and employees. Professor Nguyen Van Kim extended his heartfelt respect and New Year wishes to the retired staff, wishing them "Long life, good health, and peace."

Professor Nguyen Van Kim, on behalf of the Party Committee and the School's Board of Directors, extended birthday wishes to the teachers turning 80 and 85.

On this occasion, the school celebrated the birthdays of teachers turning 80 and 85. There are 6 teachers who are 85 years old:

Dr. Tran Bach Hieu, Secretary of the Youth Union, presented flowers to Professor Vu Duong Ninh, Chairman of the Association of Retired Teachers. On behalf of the university's youth, Dr. Tran Bach Hieu expressed gratitude and wished a Happy New Year to the retired staff.

Professor Vu Duong Ninh, Chairman of the Retired Teachers' Association of the University, on behalf of the teachers, expressed his gratitude for the University's attention and affection. He shared: "On behalf of the Retired Teachers' Association, I would like to wish all the teachers, seniors, and colleagues good health and longevity. Longevity means living a long life, and to live a long life, one needs good health, a peaceful spiritual life, and a happy family. I wish all retired staff members good health, happiness, and a very long life."

The deep affection, strong sense of loyalty, and commitment to the school have always been demonstrated by retired staff through diverse and meaningful activities. Entering 2017, the School's Retired Teachers' Association will conclude its second term and prepare to hold its third term congress (2017-2022).
