Professor Nguyen Van Khanh, on behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University, extended New Year greetings to the teachers and their families, and expressed gratitude for their significant contributions to the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.



The Rector also reviewed the outstanding achievements that the School had accomplished in 2013:
In terms of staff development, the University has recruited 21 staff members from two centers of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, bringing the total number of staff to 530. Eight faculty members have been recognized as Professors and Associate Professors by the National Council for Academic Titles, increasing the number of staff with academic titles to 20%, and the number of staff with doctoral degrees to 50%.
Regarding training activities, the University continues its planning for the development of its majors and specializations until 2020. In 2014 alone, the University added four new postgraduate programs and, for the first time, enrolled students in the Bachelor's program in Archival Studies. Currently, the University offers 23 undergraduate programs, 30 master's programs, and 39 doctoral programs. The number of full-time students is over 8000, and the number of postgraduate students is nearly 3000.
2013 was a particularly successful year for scientific research activities. The university successfully bid for 12 national-level research projects and protocols, published 600 scientific articles, including more than 20 international publications. Two works received the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Outstanding Award, and five works were selected for the Vietnam Book Award.
With these achievements, the School continues to enhance its position domestically and internationally, receiving visits, working sessions, and assignments from Party and State leaders; and becoming a destination for exchange with many heads of state and international leaders.
The Rector emphasized that the development of the University today owes a great deal to the contributions of its retired faculty members. Despite their retirement, these teachers continue to actively participate in research and training activities, contributing valuable insights to the University's development strategy. With their knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm, they are not only a valuable asset to the University but also a shining example for future generations to follow.
Professor Nguyen Van Khanh also expressed his hope to continue receiving the help and support of former faculty members in the upcoming development phase, especially in the context of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities' great efforts to achieve the goal of internationalizing training and research activities and improving quality towards international integration.
Associate Professor Nguyen Van Ham (Vice President of the Association of Retired Faculty Members of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) on behalf of all retired faculty members of the University reviewed the activities that the Association had done in 2013; and at the same time affirmed the joy and pride of each member of the Association in witnessing the new developments of the University - a common home containing the dedication and affection of generations of teachers.
Also at the New Year's gathering, the school organized a celebration for 14 teachers who had reached the age of over 80, expressing the respect and gratitude of the younger generation towards the seniors who have made significant contributions to the school's development.
