On January 15, 2014, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh, Vice Rector of the University, met and worked with Major General Nguyen Hong Quan, Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies, Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam. Also present were Associate Professor Hoang Khac Nam, Head of the Faculty of International Studies, and Dr. Tran Van Kham, Deputy Head of the Department of Scientific Research Management.

The main focus of the meeting between the leaders of both sides was to discuss the plan for organizing an international conference jointly held by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Institute for Strategic Studies (Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam), the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sweden), and the FriedRich Ebert Stiftung Foundation. The conference theme is: "Peacekeeping in the New Context". The conference is expected to take place in April 2014.

It is understood that following the workshop, a training program will be organized for officials from the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, research institutes, universities, etc.
