The school has a Military Command Board headed by Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (the School's Rector); it has one militia platoon consisting of 22 members, including one platoon leader and three squads, 10 of whom are Party members. The staff participating in the militia force are carefully selected, possessing strong political and ideological convictions, good health, and the ability to meet the specific requirements of national defense and security work.

Last year, the School performed well in registering military service for staff and faculty within the prescribed age range; registering and managing reserve troops and technical equipment. Firmly grasping the actual situation and the policies of the higher-level Military Command, the School's Military Command directed the consolidation and stabilization of the self-defense force's organizational structure, strictly managing reserve soldiers and technical equipment; organizing training to enhance political fortitude and combat skills for self-defense officers and soldiers to meet mission requirements and be ready for combat; and closely coordinating with patrol and guard forces to maintain political security and social order, protecting the safety of the workplace and the surrounding area. In May and July 2013, the School's Militia Platoon fully participated in the competitions and sports events of Thanh Xuan District and the Hanoi Capital Command.

The school maintains a regular mobile squad responsible for ensuring security in the school area; another mobile squad is maintained to be responsible for fire prevention, flood control, and storm prevention; and staff members fully participate in fire safety training courses organized by the Hanoi City Police.

In 2013, the school was awarded the title of "Unit of Outstanding Achievement" by the Thanh Xuan District Military Command, and two individuals received commendations at various levels.

In 2014, the key tasks of national defense and security were identified as follows:

- Strengthen and supplement the School Military Command Board and the core self-defense force.
- Register for preliminary selection to identify potential candidates and call up officials and employees of eligible age to participate in the 2014 military conscription examination.
- Register for the declaration of students eligible for military service, and register for the transfer of military service obligations to the school in 2014.
- Implement training plans and maintain combat readiness.
- Effectively carry out the education and training in national defense and security for officials within the prescribed scope.
- Develop a plan and maintain a core self-defense force to protect the institution, ensuring security, order, and safety within the school.
- Raise awareness among staff and students about fire prevention, flood control, and storm prevention, and proactively respond to any situations that may arise.
- Participating in social activities, charity work, showing gratitude, and supporting the military.
