On the morning of July 27, 2011, the Faculty of Sociology organized a seminar on “Completing the outline of subjects in the Master of Social Work training program”. Attending the seminar were Associate Professor Nguyen Van Kim – Vice Principal of the School, professors, doctors, experts who come to research and teach social work from universities, research centers and lecturers of the Faculty of Sociology. The seminar focused on discussing, exchanging and giving opinions on 23 subject outlines in the social work training program approved by VNU to complete the subject outlines and put them into teaching in the social work master's training program in 2011. The social work master's training program framework includes 23 subjects with a total of 54 credits to be accumulated, of which general knowledge (compulsory) is 11 credits, specialized knowledge is 30 credits, basic and specialized knowledge is 30 credits, and graduation thesis is 13 credits. The training objective of the program is to equip students with in-depth and systematic knowledge of social work theory, and to apply those theories to areas of social life, to detect and handle effective interventions in social issues. At the same time, students are firmly equipped with professional values and ethics. Currently, there are 32 universities and colleges nationwide that offer bachelor's degrees in social work, but no institution offers postgraduate social work training. Recently, with the support of UNICEF and the cooperation of San Jose University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has implemented a social work knowledge training program, piloting the curriculum framework in 4 training courses. In the first round of postgraduate admissions, the social work major also organized the first enrollment of the master's program in social work, with 43 candidates admitted. Up to now, the second round of postgraduate admissions for the social work major will also continue to enroll students in the second round.
