On July 25, a ceremony to congratulate Professor Phan Huy Le on being elected as a Foreign Correspondent by the French Academy of Inscriptions and Fine Arts was solemnly held at 19 Le Thanh Tong. The congratulatory ceremony and intimate meeting were organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences, and the Vietnam Historical Science Association.Attending the congratulatory ceremony were representatives of the leaders of VNU, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, veteran historians, close colleagues and generations of students of Professor Phan Huy Le. On behalf of the leaders of the University and all staff, civil servants, students, graduate students and postgraduates of the whole University, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector - delivered a congratulatory speech to Professor Phan Huy Le. The Rector affirmed the great contributions of Professor Phan Huy Le to the cause of building and developing the University over the past half century: Present since the early days of the establishment of Hanoi University in 1956, together with Professors Dinh Xuan Lam, Ha Van Tan, Tran Quoc Vuong and many other teachers of the same time, under the guidance of famous and talented scientists such as Professors Tran Duc Thao, Dao Duy Anh, Tran Van Giau, Professor Phan Huy Le became the first generation, laying the foundation for Marxist History and a number of other social sciences and humanities of Vietnam.

The Professor's research achievements have contributed to the development of modern Vietnamese History, becoming a source of pride for the legendary "four pillars of the court" of the History Department, and have had a strong influence on many generations of staff, students of the University and society. For the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), whose direct predecessor is Hanoi National University, in addition to the Department of Ancient and Medieval Vietnamese History that the Professor has directly led for 30 years, the Professor is also the founder and developer of a number of new majors such as Vietnamese Studies and Oriental Studies, thereby contributing to strengthening the relationship of exchange, integration and enhancing the scientific reputation of Vietnam in the international arena. Currently, Professor Phan Huy Le is the Chairman of the Policy Advisory Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Over half a century of continuous association with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Phan Huy Le has directly and contributed to training thousands of bachelors, hundreds of masters and nearly twenty doctors. Among them, there are people who have now become prestigious scientists, there are people who are managers and leaders currently holding important positions in educational and scientific research and management agencies of the country. At the congratulatory meeting, Professor Dinh Xuan Lam, Professor Nguyen Quang Ngoc, Professor Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan - Director of VNU, Professors and Doctors of VNU, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of History, Institute of Vietnamese Studies, Historical Science Association... delivered congratulatory speeches and expressed their honor and pride at the event of Professor Phan Huy Le being elected as a Foreign Correspondent Academician.

The election of Professor Phan Huy Le as a foreign correspondent member of the French Academy of Inscriptions and Fine Arts is a great scientific event, a common joy not only for the field of History but also for all fields of Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam. Professor Phan Huy Le is the first Vietnamese historian to be honored to become a foreign correspondent member of one of the most prestigious academies in Europe and the world. The Academy of Inscriptions and Fine Arts (Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Letres), founded in 1663, is one of the five scientific academies under the French Academy (Institut de France) of the French Republic. This is also one of the oldest and most prestigious academies of the French Academy. The Academy of Inscriptions and Fine Arts is an Academy of humanities, researching the fields of archaeology, history and philology from ancient times, the Middle Ages to classical times in the vast historical space from Western Europe to the Far East.
