The issues that new students are concerned about are diverse: the differences between high school and university learning methods, university study methods, how to prepare for classes, how to study effectively for exams, how to develop the right attitude and motivation for learning, effective methods for learning a foreign language, the connection between education and job opportunities, etc.

The guests participating in the exchange with students included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Phung (Head of the Department of Archival Studies and Office Management), Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Head of the Department of Politics and Student Affairs), Ms. Nguyen Thanh Van (lecturer at the University of Foreign Languages - VNU Hanoi), former student Le Thi Huyen Trang (valedictorian of the Information - Library Science major in 2013), and former student Pham Thi Huyen Trang (valedictorian of the Literature major in 2013).

The issues that new students are concerned about are diverse: the differences between high school and university learning methods, university study methods, how to prepare for classes, how to study effectively for exams, how to develop the right attitude and motivation for learning, effective methods for learning a foreign language, the connection between education and job opportunities, etc.
Associate Professor Vu Thi Phung shared: while secondary education heavily emphasizes knowledge transmission and student passivity, at the university level, teachers are not only knowledge transmitters but also must inspire and create passion for learning and research in students, guiding them to discover new knowledge independently. Students must learn proactively and plan according to their own goals.
Sharing this view, Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu believes that the learning method is a crucial difference between learning at the high school and university levels. Students must primarily engage in self-study, combining learning at home, in class, in the library, and through materials, books, and the internet. Teachers and academic advisors will guide and support students in developing effective study plans.
In response to students' concerns and anxieties about "fearing" studying subjects that are often considered difficult...Regarding the perceived "dryness" of subjects like philosophy, history of thought, and Party history, Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu acknowledges that part of the reason might be that teachers haven't truly made the subjects engaging or instilled a passion for learning in students. Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu also asserts that these subjects are inherently fascinating, and what's important is that students know how to learn, how to find diverse approaches to knowledge in textbooks and in life.
Discussing learning methods, the guests all expressed their disapproval of the "last-minute" approach to studying. Valedictorian Pham Thi Huyen Trang believes that only by studying consistently and systematically every day can one achieve good results. Lecturer Nguyen Thanh Van shared many experiences on effective foreign language learning, emphasizing the importance of practical skills. Each day, it's important to identify specific goals for learning a foreign language at each stage, avoiding rote learning and aimless studying.
While empathizing with students' concerns about employment, Associate Professor Vu Thi Phung still offered advice: young people should have a broader and more far-sighted vision to see their role and responsibility – as young people with knowledge, intelligence, and enthusiasm – in contributing to changing society and the world for the better, bringing happiness not only to themselves but also to the community.
