Lotte Foundation awards scholarships to students.

On September 27, 2013, the Lotte Foundation Scholarship Fund held a scholarship awarding ceremony for students from universities in Hanoi, including four students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Representing the university, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector) attended the ceremony.

This is the 12th time Lotte Group has awarded scholarships to 46 students with outstanding academic achievements. In Hanoi alone, the total value of scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year was $27,600. In the first semester of the 2013-2014 academic year, Vietnam National University, Hanoi had 12 students receiving scholarships, including 4 students from the Faculty of Korean Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The Lotte Foundation Scholarship Fund was established in 1983 to help underprivileged students alleviate financial burdens, focus on their studies, and realize their dreams. In Vietnam, in addition to regular scholarship programs for students at universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the group invested in building Lotte schools in Quang Ngai in July 2000 and in Bac Giang in February 2011. In March 2013, the group donated cars and strollers to the NGO Metifis, which helps children affected by Agent Orange in Quang Tri. Also in July 2013, during a visit to Hanoi, the group's chairman, Mr. Shin Dong Bin, donated US$100,000 to the Vietnam Children's Protection Fund.
