Conference of Party Cell Secretaries

Attending the Conference were comrades who were secretaries of the Youth Union branches of the faculties/departments and the Principal's block.

The conference was held for the secretaries of the young cadres’ union branches to exchange experiences on the professional activities of young cadres. This was also an opportunity to review the activities of the cadres’ union branches and propose effective action plans.

At the beginning of the conference, comrade Tran Bach Hieu gave an introduction affirming the important and necessary role of the cadres' union branches in orienting the ideology, ethics and lifestyle of student union members, especially in supporting students' professional activities. However, in reality, this role has not been promoted commensurate with the number of young cadres in the school.

The conference discussed three main topics. The first was professional support and scientific research for student union members. The second was support for extracurricular activities and volunteer work for student union members. And the last was support for political and ideological activities and Party development among student union members.

With the above 3 areas of activity, the Conference had 3 corresponding presentations from 3 units with typical areas of activity to exchange experiences with other Youth Union branches:

• Professional activities: Comrade Ho Thanh Tam (Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Faculty of History).
• Extracurricular activities and volunteer work for student union members: Comrade Pham Dieu Linh (Secretary of the Youth Union of the Faculty of Archival Science and Office Administration).
• Political ideology and Party development activities: Comrade Hoang Thi Hai Yen (Secretary of the Youth Union of the Faculty of Management Science)

From the above activities, based on the actual situation, the secretaries of the staff union branches discussed and proposed limitations, difficulties and directions for activities for the following semesters. In addition, from the discussions, other branches also learned a lot of experience (for example, in 2014, the History Department staff union organized 13 seminars), and had new proposals for the School Union.

In his closing speech at the conference, comrade Tran Bach Hieu suggested that the staff union branches need to improve the role and quality of activities of young staff, and have professional linkage activities both inside and outside the profession. Furthermore, the staff union branches need to learn from experience, see the shortcomings of the school union branches, and organize exchange programs inside and outside the faculty.
