A. Volunteer model for supporting students during exam season.

I. Activity Content

I. Time and place

- Time: From July 15th to August 5th, 2008.

- Location: Thach That district - Ha Tay province; Luong Son district - Hoa Binh province.

II. Activity Content

Organize educational activities, social activities, and activities to prevent social evils; participate in organizing and strengthening the Youth Union and Children's Union organizations at the local level.

Implement specific content and programs based on agreements reached with the Steering Committee for Summer Volunteer Programs of Hanoi National University and local leaders.

III. Number of participants

1. Volunteer teams in Thach That District, Ha Tay Province: participating alongside units under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with 5 teams (each team consisting of approximately 25 to 35 students). The student unions and associations will exchange information, reach consensus, and proactively register with the Steering Committee to select the areas where their activities will be implemented.

- Volunteer deployment areas in Thach That district in 2008: Cam Yen, Huong Ngai, Dai Dong, Lai Thuong, Phu Kim.

2. Volunteer teams in Luong Son, Hoa Binh: 2 teams (25 to 35 students each), organized as follows: (1 team deployed through a selection process or interdisciplinary collaboration of approximately 30-40 students, and 1 team in partnership with other universities). This model will be discussed and agreed upon by the Steering Committee.

- Method of organizationStudents wishing to participate in the Youth Union and Student Association's volunteer program should register before June 10, 2008. The Steering Committee will conduct the selection process on June 12, 2008 at the Youth Union and Student Association Office (Rooms 113-114, Building C) from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

- The steering committee will organize a meeting with the volunteers after they have been selected.

III. Selection MethodsUnits register to participate in the above model and conduct student recruitment within their unit, similar to the volunteer model of the Youth Union and Student Association of the university.

IV. Implementation

D. Volunteer activities of the Youth Union and Student Union of the Faculties

1. Content orientation

The local volunteer model of various units should focus on the following areas of work:

- Focus on contributing to improving the quality of life in the locality, implementing a number of activities such as: promoting the building of a healthy and civilized lifestyle; promoting reproductive health; preventing social evils, environmental protection; participating in activities with broad social significance in the locality (protecting and building local social infrastructure);

- Participate in activities expressing gratitude and appreciation, helping and caring for policy beneficiaries and those in difficult circumstances.

- Encourage activities related to professional expertise.

2. Time and place

- Time:From July 15th to August 10th, 2008

- Location:Based on the registration and proposals from the units, regarding the application of expertise to the 2008 summer volunteer model, the Youth Union branches with volunteer models registered and submitted their plans to the School Youth Union Office.May 30, 2008.

The peak of the campaign is “Summer Volunteer Program 2008The program will take place over a month (with a peak in July 2008). However, units can organize volunteer activities from the time students begin their summer break.

3. Activity Content

Participating in organizing educational activities, social activities, and activities to prevent and combat social evils; participating in organizing and strengthening the Youth Union and Children's Union organizations at the local level; helping people build roads, repair houses, clean the environment, ensure food safety, etc.

4. Number of participants

25–35 students are selected from each unit.

5. Implementation:

- The School Youth Union Executive Committee assigns responsibility to you, comrade.Nguyen Truong Son –The Vice President of the Student Union of the University monitors the volunteer model implemented by various units.

- The Steering Committee will review the proposals from the units and inform them of the specific situation.

E.In addition to organizing volunteer activities according to team structures, the School Youth Union Executive Committee will issue letters of introduction to union members and students to participate in union activities and volunteer work in the local area. Units can obtain these letters of introduction at the School Youth Union Office.before June 30, 2007.

G. Organization and implementation of Summer 2008 volunteer activities

1. Training plan

- The school's steering committee will plan the training, finalize the training content, and announce the number of volunteers to be trained, as well as the specific time and location.

- Based on the agreed-upon plan and content, each unit will compile a list of students from their unit and propose a training plan to the Steering Committee of the Youth Union - Student Association of the University.

2. Plan for organizing the launch and closing ceremony.

- Launching CeremonySummer Volunteer Program 2008The event organized by students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is scheduled to take place on July 15, 2008.

- Participants: All teams participating as volunteers starting from the time mentioned above.

- Units implementing the Summer 2008 volunteer program will submit a summary report (or preliminary report for volunteer programs that extend into the new school year) to the Youth Union - Student Association Office of the University.Before August 20, 2008.

- The closing ceremony and report on the achievements of the 2008 summer volunteer campaign at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be held at the beginning of the new academic year.

* Some notes:

  • The Youth Union/Student Union branches have detailed activity plans, volunteer training plans, support requests from the Steering Committee, and budget estimates to submit to the Youth Union/Student Union Office of the school.before the day31/5/2008.

The Steering Committee will issue letters of introduction regarding the hometown and letters of introduction for sponsorship applications to the units; and will also provide guidance on the sponsorship application process and assistance in contacting and working with local authorities (if necessary).
  4. The Youth Union and Student Association of the University will direct and assist units in training volunteers; and guide the summary process.

  6. Each Student Union branch will appoint one member from its Executive Committee to regularly monitor and direct this activity (with a report included in the implementation plan). This member will act as a liaison between the School's Steering Committee and the leaders of the various units.

H. Some specific instructions

1. Instructions for preliminary work (to be completed before June 10, 2008)

Units should obtain letters of introduction from the Youth Union - Student Association Office of the University, work with local leaders and local youth unions to receive the most effective support. Units should conduct a preliminary survey to thoroughly understand the area where they will operate.

  • The socio-economic situation, customs and traditions, and population of the locality.
  • The difficulties and needs for assistance faced by the local community in general and the local Youth Union in particular.
  • The situation of individuals and families eligible for assistance under government policies (for units involved in gratitude and repayment activities).
  • Accommodation and living facilities for volunteers during their volunteer period.

2. Guidelines for volunteer training

Volunteers need to have a systematic understanding of:

  • The area of ​​operation (demographics, socio-economic conditions, customs and traditions, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the areas of volunteer work to be carried out in the locality (reproductive health care, traffic safety, environmental sanitation, prevention of social evils, children's work, youth union work, etc.).

Units can obtain the letter of introduction from the Student Union Office, along with their unit's Summer Volunteer Plan. If the sponsoring unit is a state-owned company, they should contact the company's Youth Union to request assistance.

Here are some suggested funding sources (outside the school's scope):

  • Some publishers and magazines are seeking funding for books and periodicals with the aim of building libraries in volunteer local communities.
  • Stationery and educational equipment companies.
  • Food and clothing companies.
  • Funding comes from rural development funds and non-governmental organizations.

4. Some points to note during the implementation of volunteer activities in your hometown.

  • Minutes of the team meeting reviewing the individuals (or groups) with outstanding achievements during the activity.
  • List of proposed awards for individuals or groups.
  • Volunteer products and projects (team diaries, volunteer newsletters, bulletins, professional reports, etc.)
