Plan for Organizing the 2010 Summer Volunteer Program

In implementing the plan for the "2010 Summer Volunteer Campaign" of the Hanoi City Youth Union Executive Committee and the Hanoi National University Youth Union Executive Committee, and in accordance with the 2009-2010 academic year work program, building upon the achievements of the 2009 summer volunteer campaign of the University's youth, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Executive Committee and the Vietnam Student Association Executive Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have developed the 2010 Summer Volunteer Campaign Plan with the following contents:
In implementing the plan for the "2010 Summer Volunteer Campaign" of the Hanoi City Youth Union Executive Committee and the Hanoi National University Youth Union Executive Committee, and in accordance with the 2009-2010 academic year work program, building upon the achievements of the 2009 summer volunteer campaign of the University's youth, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Executive Committee and the Vietnam Student Association Executive Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have developed the 2010 Summer Volunteer Campaign Plan with the following contents:

I. Purpose and Significance

- This is an opportunity for members of the Youth Union and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to develop their professional skills, intellect, and enthusiasm, contributing to the socio-economic and cultural development of several localities, especially focusing on activities commemorating the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi. - It creates opportunities for students of the university to interact and exchange experiences in Youth Union work and student movements with young people in several localities. - It creates conditions for students to experience real life, combining theory with practice, contributing to building the right motivation for learning. - Through the summer volunteer program, students will cultivate political acumen, traditional education, ethics, sense of responsibility; practical knowledge and social activity skills; contributing to improving the effectiveness of the Youth Union and Student Association. - It meets the need for Youth Union members and students to contribute their youthful energy to the industrialization and modernization of the country.

II. Operating Principles

- Emphasize the spirit of volunteerism among students. - Prioritize volunteer activities related to their professional field. - Volunteer activities must be safe, practical, economical, and effective.

III. Activity Content

- Focus activities in Hanoi with the theme "Building Culture - Protecting the Environment" towards celebrating the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi; - Organize cultural education for local students; - Disseminate and publicize the policies and guidelines of the Party and State and the Resolutions of the Youth Union Congress at all levels; - Promote Ho Chi Minh's ideology through various forms depending on the area of ​​activity; - Coordinate with local authorities to organize activities commemorating the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs, visit and give gifts to families with meritorious contributions to the revolution, and poor but academically excellent students; - Promote traffic safety; - Coordinate with local authorities to organize propaganda on preventing social evils; - Organize and participate in cultural, sports, and cultural exchange activities between students and local youth; - Participate in organizing summer activities for local youth; - Organize Youth Union members and students to participate in serving the university entrance examination.

IV. Models of Summer 2010 Volunteer Activities

1. Activities related to the 2010 university entrance examination.- Content: Participating in supporting the 2010 university entrance exam; participating in the "Exam Support Campaign" at the university's admission locations and at bus stations (as assigned and directed by the higher-level Youth Union); participating in the "Accommodation Support" and "Blue Shirt Carrying Pink Dreams" teams of the Hanoi Youth Union. - The core force for this activity is the Student Shock Team and student volunteers from the university. - Number: 100-120 volunteers. - Implementation period: from June 30th to July 10th, 2010. - Implementing force: Student Shock Team. - In charge of implementation: Nguyen Manh Linh - Member of the Executive Committee of the University Student Union, Team Leader of the Student Shock Team. The University Youth Union assigns Mr. Pham Huy Cuong - Deputy Secretary, and Mr. Nguyen Chi Trung - Member of the Standing Committee to direct this activity.2. Han Nom Club- Content: Organizing free literacy classes and activities to introduce Han Nom script at the Hanoi Children's Palace (traditional location) and expanding to other locations in Hanoi to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi. - Time: From June 20th to August 20th, 2010. - Implementing force: Youth Union and Student Association of the Faculty of Literature. - Responsible for implementation: Comrade Nguyen Phuc Anh – Secretary of the Youth Union of the Faculty of Literature and Comrade Nguyen Hoang Kieu Anh – Member of the Executive Committee of the University Youth Union. The University Youth Union assigned Comrade Pham Huy Cuong and Comrade Nguyen Chi Trung to direct this activity.3. Activities in collaboration with the Hanoi Youth Union towards the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long.- Content: Propaganda about the traditions, history, and culture of the Capital and the country, leading up to the Grand Celebration of the 1000th Anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi at locations such as the Temple of Literature - National University, Duong Lam ancient village, etc. - Time: From June 20th to August 20th, 2010 - Expected number of volunteers: 150 volunteers. - Implementing force: Youth Union/Student Union of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, Faculty of History, Faculty of Linguistics, Faculty of International Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies (a specific plan will be developed according to the program of the City Youth Union and City Student Association). - Responsible for implementation: The Secretaries of the above-mentioned Youth Union/Student Union branches; Mr. Pham Duc Anh - Deputy Secretary of the University Youth Union and Ms. Ta Bich Ngoc - Member of the Standing Committee of the University Youth Union are assigned to direct the implementation.4. Campaign Reporter Team- Content: Gathering information, writing articles, and reporting on summer volunteer activities of the university's youth and the youth of Hanoi; publishing the Summer Volunteer Magazine. - Time: June 1st to September 5th, 2010. - Implementing force: Youth Union and Student Association of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication. - Responsible for implementation: Mr. Nguyen Thanh Khanh - Member of the Executive Committee of the University's Student Union, Head of the Journalism and Communication Student Association. Mr. Pham Huy Cuong - Deputy Secretary in charge of this content.5. Volunteer activities in Son La under the direction of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Student Union.- Location: Son La Province - Time: July 15th to August 5th, 2010 - Number of volunteers: 80-90 volunteers/2 teams. - Deployment force: Student union members from the entire university (primarily focusing on units not yet mobilized for the above activities: Archival Studies and Office Management, Psychology, Sociology, Management Science, Library and Information Science, Political Science, Philosophy). - Responsible for implementation: The Secretaries of the Youth Union Branches and Heads of the Student Union Branches of the listed Faculties/Departments. The University Youth Union Executive Committee assigns responsibility to Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan – Standing Committee Member, Vice President of the University Student Association, and Mr. Tran Bach Hieu - Standing Committee Member of the University Youth Union to direct the implementation.6. Introducing student union members participating in summer activities in their hometowns.Students who are unable to participate in these programs will receive a Summer 2010 activity voucher (to participate in local programs and activities) at the Youth Union - Student Association Office of the University from June 10th to June 25th. The confirmation of participation in the local program must be returned to the Youth Union - Student Association Office of the University before September 10th, 2010.

VI. Implementation progress

- May 2010: Development, reporting, and approval of the plan. - June 1st to June 10th, 2010: Assigned personnel develop the plan and budget, reporting to the Student Union Office. Those in charge supervise and monitor implementation to ensure timely completion. - June 10th to June 30th, 2010: Preliminary activities, training, fundraising, and preparation. - July and August 2010: Implementation of activities. - September 2010: Summary. (Note: Personnel in charge of the Youth Union teams must submit summary reports and recommendations for awards to the Student Union Office before August 20th, 2010).
