Workshop overview:
-
Workshop topics: Korea and Korean Studies from an Asian Perspective
-Content:
It can be said that the position of Korea in Asia has increased rapidly in recent years. Through the increase in the scale of Korea's trade with Asian countries, the exchange of human resources through study abroad and tourism programs, and especially the development of cultural exchange relationships, Korean culture has been welcomed as a miraculous phenomenon that no one could have predicted. Korean culture is now not only the culture of Koreans but has become a culture loved by many Asian people. However, Korean studies in Asia, especially in Southeast Asia, is only at the beginning. As a comprehensive research field on Korean history, society, and culture, regional Korean studies is still very weak in both quantity and quality. In order to enhance Asians' understanding of Korea, this scientific conference aims to provide a comprehensive view of "Korea and Korean studies from an Asian perspective". The content of the workshop focuses on the following specific issues:
+ Korean culture in Asian culture
+ Asian culture in Korean culture
+ Korea and Asia in history: Conflict and experience of cooperation
+ Korea and Asia in the 21st Century: Problems and Future Prospects
+ Recent achievements and prospects of Korean studies in Asia
