Plan for the Multilingual Education Scientific Conference (August 2008)

Multilingual education in multi-ethnic, multilingual communities is a major and important topic in language policy research and the development of social life for each ethnic group. The scientific conference "Multilingual Education" will be jointly organized by the Hanoi Linguistics Association (under the Hanoi Union of Scientific and Technical Associations) and the Department of Linguistics (Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi), with the participation of the Taiwanese Language Department of National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan, China).

Multilingual education in multi-ethnic, multilingual communities is a major and important topic in language policy research and the development of social life for each ethnic group. 1. Content

This scientific conference on multilingual education will focus on the following key topics:

  • Theoretical issues of multilingual education in a multi-ethnic and multilingual environment.
  • Multilingual education, along with language policy and language planning, plays a crucial role in social development and international integration.
  • Lessons learned in multilingual education in Vietnam and Taiwan today include issues such as: multilingual education models; chosen languages ​​for teaching; multilingual teaching materials; teachers and learners; factors affecting multilingual education and language attitudes; etc.

2. Scientific report

  • Full text, A4 format, Times New Roman font, size 14, 1.5 line spacing.
  • Languages ​​spoken: Vietnamese (Chinese and English).
  • Deadline for submitting reports: August 15, 2008.

  • The report presented at the conference will be edited for publication.
