Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

Attending the opening ceremony were Comrade Nguyen Xuan Dan, Training Assistant of the Thanh Xuan District Military Command; Comrade Nguyen Van Bay, Political Assistant of the Thanh Xuan District Military Command; Dr. Trinh Thuy Giang, Political Commissar and Head of the Personnel and Organization Department of the University of Science; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Party Secretary and Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; and comrades from the military command and soldiers of both universities.

Organizing training for militia forces is an annual activity, regularly coordinated by two universities within the Vietnam National University system: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences. This is a necessary and useful activity in the current context.

This year's training course has 54 participants, including 26 from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and 28 from the University of Natural Sciences. The training will last approximately 10 days (from August 10th to August 19th, 2015).

The training course aims to further strengthen and enhance the political fortitude of the militia and self-defense forces. As major training and scientific research centers of the country, this spirit and fortitude are demonstrated through a deep political awareness and readiness to fight.

As part of the militia force in Thanh Xuan District, the two schools' forces contributed alongside relevant forces to protecting security and order in the capital city, especially during a time of heightened political tension, particularly with China's deployment of an oil rig into the continental shelf and exclusive economic zone of Vietnam. This training session also served as an opportunity to select deserving individuals to participate in district-level and city-level militia competitions.

Comrade Nguyen Van Bay, Political Assistant of the Thanh Xuan District Military Command, is giving a lecture on the topic "Disputes in the East Sea, forecast of the situation in the coming time and the Party and State's views on resolving them."

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Van Kim, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized: "Although we are on summer vacation, we must strictly comply with the assignments and directives of the leadership and the Military Command of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences. Regarding learning attitude, we must participate seriously and fully in the course. In terms of numbers, we must ensure 100% attendance throughout the training period, except in truly exceptional cases where comrades must report, submit a request for leave, and obtain approval from the Command."

Following the opening ceremony, the participants in the political awareness training course listened to a lecture on "Disputes in the East Sea, forecasts of the situation in the coming period and the Party and State's views on resolving them," delivered by Comrade Nguyen Van Bay, Political Assistant of the Thanh Xuan District Military Command.
