The program aims to celebrate the successful conclusion of the 5th Party Congress of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) for the 2015-2020 term, and to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd. At the same time, it is also an event that marks the Hoa Lac campus and the contributions of teachers and students to the subject of National Defense and Security Education.
The cultural evening was attended by Comrade Nguyen Van Loi – Director of the Center for National Defense and Security Education, Comrade Tran Bach Hieu – Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union – VNU Hanoi, Party Committee Member and Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, representatives of the Youth Union and Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, teachers and officers at the Center for National Defense and Security Education, and more than 1,500 students.
In his opening remarks, Comrade Tran Bach Hieu expressed his joy and envy towards the students studying national defense education here: "The K59 cohort of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is living and studying in a collective learning environment. More than 1500 students study and live together at the Hoa Lac National Defense Education Center, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The new environment is initially unfamiliar and challenging, with many difficulties, discipline, and hardships, but the students have quickly adapted and come to love this place. Hoa Lac will be a beautiful memory for each K59 student in the future."
In his opening speech, Comrade Tran Bach Hieu also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the teachers of the Center for National Defense and Security Education - VNU Hanoi for their dedication and commitment to the students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities during the past period.
The cultural exchange event was divided into three parts. Part one, titled "A Painting of the Countryside," featured performances with themes about the homeland, such as "My Hometown," "Coming Home for Dinner," and the "Lotus Fragrance" dance. Part two, with the overarching theme of "Red Flowers in the Trenches," included plays and musicals about a time of bloody war, such as "To Die for the Fatherland." This part emphasized family and camaraderie, as in "The Season of Blooming Flowers," and the courageous and heroic hearts of young people, as in "The Fiery Gem of Twenty." Part three, "The Flag," concluded with the resounding singing of the song "Soldier's Dream" by teachers and students at the Hoa Lac center amidst a downpour. These plays and musicals were entirely staged and performed by the K59 student companies at the Hoa Lac center.
