The Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities received Certificates of Commendation from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Ministry of Education and Training.

On August 15, 2015, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Education Trade Union held conferences to summarize the 2014-2015 school year, implement tasks for the 2015-2016 school year, and summarize the five-year implementation of the campaign "Donating and supporting education in remote, disadvantaged, and particularly difficult areas"; and a conference to summarize the emulation movement "Excellent at schoolwork - Good at housework" for the period 2010-2015.

The Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities received Certificates of Commendation from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Ministry of Education and Training.

Attending and directing the Conference were Dr. Nguyen Thi Nghia - Member of the Party Committee, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Head of the Committee for the Advancement of Women in the Education Sector, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Thi Thanh, Member of the Presidium, Head of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

The Conference was attended by leaders of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, representatives of the Vietnam Education Trade Union's departments, the Chairpersons or Vice-Chairpersons, and heads of the Women's Affairs Committees of the Education Trade Unions of provinces, cities, the National University Trade Union, regional universities, colleges, universities, and affiliated units. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Minh Loan – Vice-Chairperson of the Trade Union and Head of the Women's Affairs Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – also attended the Conference.

The conference was held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. More than 200 delegates, including presidents, vice presidents, officials, and exemplary union members from education unions in provinces and cities, national universities, regional universities, universities, colleges, and units affiliated with the Vietnam Education Union, attended.

At the Conference, delegates heard reports, discussed, and reached a high level of consensus on the results of trade union activities in the past academic year, key tasks for the coming academic year, and the results of the fundraising campaign to support education in particularly disadvantaged areas, as presented by the leaders of the Vietnam Education Trade Union; the results of organizing the "Excellent at Schoolwork - Competent at Home" emulation movement in the period 2010-2015; and heard a presentation on some new information related to education inspection work by Mr. Nguyen Huy Bang - Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Hoang Thi Thanh – on behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor – acknowledged the achievements of the Vietnam Education Trade Union in the past academic year and emphasized several key tasks for the coming academic year. These included:

- Improve the quality of activities of grassroots trade unions in schools.

- Enhancing the capacity of trade union officials at all levels.

- Enhance the capacity of teachers and staff, proactively embrace educational innovation, and meet the demands of the education sector and society.

- Continue to fulfill the task of caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of teachers and workers in the context where each teacher and worker is actively working together with the education sector to meet the stringent requirements and demands of society.

- Enhance the effectiveness of information and communication channels through trade union organizations in educational institutions.

At the Conference, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was honored to receive the following awards:

  • Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for outstanding achievements in the 2014-2015 academic year;
  • Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for outstanding achievements in the "Excellent at Schoolwork - Competent at Home" emulation movement during the period 2010-2015;
  • Certificates of commendation from the Vietnam Education Union were awarded to two departmental unions: Union I of the Administrative Block and the Union of the Faculty of Literature;
  • Certificates of commendation from the Vietnam Education Union were awarded to two individuals: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of the University, and Mr. Do Tien Thang – lecturer in the Faculty of Literature, former Chairman of the Faculty of Literature's Trade Union.
