On August 10, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with a delegation from Arizona State University (USA) led by Professor Kathleen L. Andereck (Director of the Faculty of Natural Resources and Community Development, Deputy Dean of Training Programs of the School of Public Administration). Also receiving the delegation were representatives of the Faculty of Tourism Studies and functional departments and offices.

The main issue mentioned and discussed by representatives of the two schools was improving the quality of tourism.,develop sustainable tourism, thereby opening more joint training programs for bachelor's and master's degrees in Tourism Studies; coordinate the organization of research seminars and workshops on topics related to Tourism Studies, which are the strengths of the two schools.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa proposed implementing a form of training cooperation with support from relevant parties. Arizona State University will be a partner providing lecturers, training programs, and degrees. The program will be supported through the US government, the US Embassy in Vietnam, which is the main sponsor for students. At the same time, the school will call for additional sponsorship from tourism businesses and hotels. Because training hotel management experts in this program will provide a source of local human resources for those businesses and hotels.

The Vice Principal's proposal received approval from representatives of the Faculty of Natural Resources and Community Development. The success of the cooperation program will depend on the skillful presentation to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the US Embassy and the request for funding from the two universities.

Arizona State University, founded in 1885, is the largest public university in the United States, ranked in the top 60 best universities in the world with nearly 65,000 students. This is the first time a delegation from Arizona State University has come to work with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Some faculties of Arizona State University are related to faculties of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities such as: arts and sciences, engineering, global leadership and management, journalism and mass communication, law, social sciences, public programs and sustainable development, etc.
