The main issue discussed by representatives from both schools was improving the quality of tourism.,To develop sustainable tourism, thereby moving towards opening more joint undergraduate and master's degree programs in Tourism Studies; and to jointly organize research seminars and workshops on topics related to Tourism Studies, which are strengths of both universities.
Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa proposed implementing a collaborative training model with support from relevant parties. Arizona State University would be a partner providing faculty, training programs, and degrees. This program would be supported through the U.S. government and the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, which would be the main sponsor for students. Simultaneously, the university would seek additional sponsorship from tourism businesses and hotels. Training hotel management professionals through this program would provide a local workforce for these businesses and hotels.
The Vice Rector's proposal received support from the representatives of the Faculty of Resources and Community Development. The success of the cooperation program will depend on skillful communication with the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, the US Embassy, and securing funding from both universities.
