Tuesday - October 3, 2017 09:57
On October 3, 2017, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of the University with a delegation from the Global Education Group (GES) of Japan, led by Mr. Onda Takayuki (Chairman of the Group). Also attending the signing ceremony were Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Cooperation and Development Office, and the Political and Student Affairs Office.

During the meeting, Professor Pham Quang Minh reaffirmed the success of the "One Belt, One Road" exchange program organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with GES. The Rector stated that the University wishes to continue cooperating with GES in this program as well as other forms of cooperation such as academic exchanges, seminars, and conferences. This is part of the University's internationalization strategy, which includes expanding relations with Japanese and other partners. On a personal level, the Rector invited Mr. Onda Takayuki to attend the international conference "China's Belt and Road Initiative: Opportunities and Challenges," jointly organized by the University and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Germany) on October 6, 2017.

In response, Mr. Onda Takayuki expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic cooperation in the "One Belt, One Road" program as well as the organization of the "From Ruin to Revival" exhibition by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He affirmed that these cooperative activities will contribute to promoting relations between the two countries in particular and multilateral cooperation among countries in general. This is because GES's mission is to promote peace and bridge the gap between nations globally.

Following this, the leaders of both sides signed a memorandum of cooperation. Accordingly, GES committed to: proposing, connecting, and promoting cooperation between partners (universities, institutes, foundations, scholarship funds, etc.) and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; proposing regular programs for students of partner universities to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; introducing scholarship programs for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; and supporting the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in finding funding and organizing short-term field trips for its students. In return, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities committed to: nominating undergraduate/postgraduate students for scholarship programs; receiving and implementing regular programs for students of GES's partner universities; and supporting GES in connecting with Vietnamese partners. This memorandum of cooperation is valid for 5 years from the date of signing.
