Receive and work with the Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam

On October 4, 2017, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives of the Department of Cooperation and Development welcomed Mr. Ibnu Hadi, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh reaffirmed the University's internationalization strategy through expanding relations with regional and international partners. The President hopes that the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam will be the link between the University and Indonesian universities; and at the same time, proposed a number of cooperative activities such as student and lecturer exchanges, conducting research and co-organizing seminars on common issues such as Vietnam-Indonesia bilateral relations as well as relations between ASEAN countries.

In response, Mr. Ibnu Hadi thanked the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for its warm welcome and agreed with the proposals of Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh. He said that the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam is always ready to support the University in connecting with universities in his country. The Indonesian Embassy places its trust in prestigious training institutions like the University in strengthening educational relations between the two countries in particular, and relations between countries in the region.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the goodwill of the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam. The Rector hoped that the University could soon sign an official cooperation agreement with Indonesian universities. The Department of Cooperation and Development will be the contact point of the University.

On March 15, Ambassador Ibnu Hadi visited the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and introduced the Partnership with Developing Countries (Kemitraan Negara Berkembang – KNB) scholarship of the Government of Indonesia. Accordingly, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia will award 135 scholarships to students from developing countries, including Vietnam. Students will study at one of 16 prestigious universities in Indonesia. The scholarship lasts for 3 years, including 1 year for the Indonesian Language Preparatory Course for Masters.
