A notable point in this year's Master's program admissions regulations is that, for the first time, applicants do not need to have studied the exact same major; they only need to have a Bachelor's degree with honors in a relevant field to be considered for direct admission. This means that Bachelor's graduates with honors in Journalism, Public Relations, International Communication, Mass Communication, etc., are directly admitted to Master's programs in Journalism (research-oriented or application-oriented) or Media and Communication Management. Bachelor's graduates with honors in Literature or Language and Literature Education are also directly admitted to Master's programs in Literature. Bachelor's graduates with honors in Tourism and Travel Service Management, Tourism, Hotel Management, or Restaurant and Food Service Management are directly admitted to Master's programs in Tourism. Bachelor's graduates with honors in Management Science, Political Science, or Law are directly admitted to Public Policy.
Many new regulations regarding postgraduate training were implemented by the university for the first time in 2022.

In addition, for the 8 training programs of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities accredited by reputable international accreditation organizations (AUN-QA, ABET...) and Vietnamese accreditation organizations recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training, full-time students in the relevant majors with a GPA of "Good" or higher are eligible for direct admission to postgraduate programs. These 8 majors include: Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History, Vietnamese Studies, International Studies, and Archival Studies. This year is also the first year the university allows students' scientific research to have their research points directly added to their cumulative GPA for direct admission consideration. The application period for direct admission is from 8:00 AM on February 22nd to 5:00 PM on April 8th at http://tssdh.vnu.edu.vn.
For doctoral training, 2022 was also the first year that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities considered waiving tuition fees for doctoral students with outstanding research capabilities. Simultaneously, the University proposed that the Vietnam National University grant scholarships of up to 100 million VND/person/year (12 months) based on academic and research performance during the standard training period. Interns were considered for scholarships of up to 120 million VND/person/year (12 months).
In addition, the university continues to recruit doctoral students under Project 89 of the Ministry of Education and Training, with 12 disciplines including: Journalism, Dialectical Materialism and Historical Materialism, Southeast Asian Studies, Archaeology, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Vietnamese History, Comparative Linguistics, International Relations, Science and Technology Management, Psychology and Sociology.
