A notable point in this year's Master's admission regulations is that for the first time, candidates do not need to study the right major, they only need to have a Bachelor's degree with honors in suitable majors to be considered for direct admission. This means that Bachelors with honors in Journalism, Public Relations, International Communication, Mass Communication, etc. are directly admitted to study Master's in Journalism (research-oriented, application-oriented), or Journalism and Communication Management. Bachelors in Literature, Literature Pedagogy, with honors are also directly admitted to Master's in Literature. Bachelors in Tourism and Travel Services Management, Tourism, Hotel Management or Restaurant and Food Service Management with honors are all considered for direct admission to Master's in Tourism. Bachelors with honors in Management Science, Political Science, Law are directly admitted to Public Policy.

In addition, for 8 training majors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities accredited by prestigious international accreditation organizations (AUN-QA, ABET...) and accreditation organizations of Vietnam recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training, full-time students with the right grade of Good or higher are allowed to be directly admitted to Master's degree. These 8 majors include: Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History, Vietnamese Studies, International Studies, Archival Studies. This year is also the first year the school allows scientific research students to directly add scientific research bonus points to the average cumulative score of the entire course for direct admission. The direct admission time is from 8:00 a.m. on February 22 to 5:00 p.m. on April 8 at http://tssdh.vnu.edu.vn.
For PhD training, 2022 is also the first year that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will consider exempting tuition fees for PhD students with excellent research capacity. At the same time, it will propose that the National University grant scholarships of up to 100 million VND/person/year (12 months) based on academic and research results during the standard training period. Interns will be considered for scholarships of up to 120 million VND/person/year (12 months).
In addition, the school also continues to enroll students for PhD training under Project 89 of the Ministry of Education and Training, with 12 majors including: Journalism, Dialectical Materialism and Historical Materialism, Southeast Asian Studies, Archaeology, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Vietnamese History, Comparative Linguistics, International Relations, Science and Technology Management, Psychology and Sociology.
