On the morning of September 3, 2010, Xuan Loc Primary School (Thuong Xuan - Thanh Hoa) solemnly held the opening ceremony for the 2010-2011 school year and received sponsorship gifts from the Center for Research on Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Regions (Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi). The ceremony was attended by local leaders at all levels, representatives from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and all leaders and staff of the Center for Research on Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas. The total value of the donation to Xuan Loc Primary School was 180 million VND, including: 325 school bags, 325 sets of textbooks, and 3250 notebooks for all students (10 notebooks per student), and 6 million VND for local scholarship funds. Regarding the reason for choosing textbooks as a donation, Professor Tran Tri Doi, Director of the Center, said: For most families in the area, purchasing textbooks for their children is very difficult. Furthermore, one of the cultural shortcomings of ethnic minority communities is the lack of educational books. Meanwhile, textbooks are not only a means of education, ensuring the quality of teaching, but also a tool for disseminating general knowledge to society and enhancing the reading culture of the community.

As part of its plan to develop school libraries in mountainous areas, the Center intends to help expand a library in Dien Bien province next academic year. To achieve this, the Center will mobilize businesses to provide funding and purchase books at low prices from publishers. In addition, the Center will solicit donations and collect books from individuals. The Center's goal is to develop education and culture, so giving books to those who need them is very important," shared Professor Tran Tri Doi. This donation is a regular activity of the Center to implement the "Education Development Fund for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Regions of Vietnam." Previously, on June 18, 2010, the Center for Research and Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Regions, together with Viegrid Company, donated a total of 192 million VND to the Dien Bien Provincial Youth Union. Here are some more photos from the ceremony:
