Vietnam and Iran have great potential for cooperation, especially in the fields of science and education.

That is the opinion of Mr. Sayed Kamal Sajadi, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Vietnam (1995-1999), now Chairman of the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association and Prof. Dr. Shahriyar Shojaeipour (Faculty of History and Civilization, Iranian Institute for Cultural and Ideological Studies) during his visit and lecture at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities on the afternoon of March 21, 2014.

Vietnam and Iran have great potential for cooperation, especially in the fields of science and education.
On behalf of the University, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector) provided information on research and training in fields related to Asia in general and Iran in particular at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He also affirmed the University's leading position in this field of research and training.

Mr. Sayed Kamal and Prof. Dr. Shahriyar Shojaeipour introduced some features of Iran's higher education as well as some achievements that the country's education and science have achieved in recent years (the seventh power in the world in Nano technology, second in the world after Israel in using Nano to treat cancer after only 10 years of research...).

Based on the information exchanged, the two sides affirmed the great potential for cooperation and efforts between the School and the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association in particular and Iranian partners in general, especially in the fields of science and education.

To further promote this relationship, some initial cooperation activities have been proposed such as: exchanging students and professors from both countries; publishing books introducing Iranian language and culture in Vietnam and vice versa; organizing courses teaching each country's language and culture; continuing to implement joint courses between the two sides specializing in research and training in Vietnamese and Iranian culture...

Mr. Sayed Kamal Sajadi was the former Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Vietnam from 1995 to 1999, currently a professor of Sociology at Tehran University, has many works on Vietnam and has translated The Tale of Kieu into Persian. Prof. Dr. Shahriyar Shojaeipour is a leading professor in Iran on the History of Civilization and Islamic Thought, has lectured in many countries around the world, and is currently working at Al-Mustafa International University in Qom, Iran.

Following the training of Persian Language and Civilization since 2012 taught by Iranian and Vietnamese Professors, the activity introducing Iran - Country and People 21-31/02/2014 (painting exhibition, Iranian film week, Scientific seminarVietnam-Iran relations in the new global context), Oriental Studies students are attending a series of lectures onNew Trends of Islam in the Context of Globalizationfrom March 19 to March 30 of the two Professors mentioned above.

These are joint teaching and research activities that have become regular between the Faculty of Oriental Studies and Iranian partners, contributing to deepening and making cooperation more effective.
