On behalf of the State leadership, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim delivered a speech emphasizing the increasingly important role of the media sector as a pioneering, connecting, and decisive force in many aspects of socio-economic life.

The speech also shared information: while in 1995 less than 1% of the world knew about the Internet, today, according to the latest data from Internet World Statistics, nearly 50% of the world's population uses the internet. Vietnam ranks 8th in the world in terms of internet usage time with nearly 5 hours/day, and 12th in the world in terms of average time spent on social media.

This reality also demands new perspectives on communication thinking and methods, as well as media management, to serve the local and global competitiveness of media worldwide, including Vietnam.

In this context, this scientific conference is a meaningful activity aimed at promoting a better understanding of the characteristics, roles, multifaceted impacts, and development trends of media management and crisis handling in the context of social media.

From various perspectives, the presentations contributed specific assessments of the role and tasks of media management in the new era, especially in the context of the rapid development of digital technology and social media, with the multifaceted and complex impacts of globalization. Both theoretically and practically, these studies help media organizations effectively perform their functions as mass media outlets, playing a leading role in the ideological and cultural spheres, and contributing to shaping public opinion on domestic and international issues according to the Party and State's viewpoints. At the same time, businesses and organizations also shared many valuable practical lessons in media management, crisis response, and handling.
