The scientific conference "Practical philosophical issues in Vietnam" had 67 reports participating, showing the enthusiasm of the philosophical community and the strong need for research. The topics of the 4 working sessions at the conference were: Issues of the history of Eastern and Western philosophy; Issues of Marxist philosophy and Vietnamese practice; Issues of religious life in Vietnam; Ethical and socio-cultural issues
14 reports were presented with rich content, of theoretical and practical value. All reports attracted enthusiastic attention and discussion. Many reports by young cadres and students showed confidence and enthusiasm, and received active comments and discussions from experts and leading scientists. The lively academic atmosphere helped to open up and explain many new issues and new approaches in practical philosophy in Vietnam.
Some issues summarized at the Workshop were emphasized: once again raising the issue of recognizing and positioning Marxist Philosophy, one of the main pillars of Philosophy, in the context of research and current social practice. Limitations that need to be overcome in terms of translation; reading and systematically researching the works of Mac-Engghen. Especially, there is a need to compare and contrast with philosophers of the same period and following the Mac-Engghen period. In the development of society, it is necessary to apply "multi-theories" to explain and solve social phenomena, at the same time supplementing scientific, objective and progressive explanations for the system of philosophical doctrines. ... Also in this workshop, a common spirit was expressed, which is the requirement to build a Vietnamese Philosophy. This may still be a long-term problem, requiring a lot of effort and time to research and publish ... but always urges the enthusiastic Vietnamese Philosophy researchers. This requirement also opens up many new research directions. Many domestic and international scientific conferences will continue to be organized by the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the coming time.
