The conference is an annual traditional activity between the two faculties to create opportunities for scientists to share new research, thereby further promoting research and training cooperation in Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies.
Principal Pham Quang Minh speaks at the Workshop
In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the long-standing and effective cooperation between the two faculties as a typical model of development cooperation between the two national universities of the country. This connection has contributed to the remarkable achievements of the two faculties in recent times in many fields.
In 2015, the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities pioneered and completed the construction of the "Vietnamese Language Competency Framework for Foreigners". In June 2016, the Ministry of Education and Training issued the test format according to this competency assessment framework. This is an important milestone in the field of teaching Vietnamese to foreigners and demonstrates the capacity and prestige of the scientific staff of the University in general and the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language in particular. Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh suggested that in the near future, the Faculty should pay attention to disseminating this competency assessment framework to relevant agencies and organizations at home and abroad, and plan to send staff to partner units to train on how to use and apply this assessment framework in practice.
Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh also emphasized that never before have Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language been facing such strong development opportunities as at present. Visits by foreign leaders, the strong influx of foreign businesses and companies into Vietnam, etc. have helped Vietnamese Studies gain an increasingly important position and role. This is a good opportunity for the Faculty to reflect and find solutions to bring this field of study to a new level of development, reaching out more widely to a wide range of different groups in society.
