The president visited several universities in Yunnan and Chengdu (China).

At Yunnan University (China), leaders from both sides agreed to continue sending Vietnamese language majors from Yunnan University to study Vietnamese at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the next academic year; to invite Vietnamese language teachers to teach postgraduate students there; and to strengthen scientific research cooperation on international relations with the Myanmar Research Institute of Yunnan University.

At Southwest Forestry University (China), the university leadership stated that they will continue to send Vietnamese language students to Vietnam for study, and send students to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for postgraduate studies; they also plan to organize a summer exchange program between the two universities.

At Yunnan Nationalities University, the leaders of the two universities agreed on several areas of cooperation: training key personnel for ethnic minority regions (with the Academy of Ethnic Minority Cadres); the University of Social Sciences and Humanities supporting the compilation of textbooks, assessment, and evaluation of Vietnamese language proficiency for the partner; organizing seminars on cross-border culture and education; and establishing strong research groups to jointly research topics on the languages ​​and cultures of ethnic minorities.

At Chengdu Academy, the proposed areas of cooperation between the two universities include: continuing to jointly train undergraduate students in Vietnamese language; accepting university graduates to pursue postgraduate studies in Vietnam; establishing a Vietnam-China cultural exchange center; and organizing more internship programs, summer courses, and summer camps for students majoring in Chinese studies.
