Promoting cooperation with Xiazhou Academy (China)

Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. The University currently has 16 faculties, 12 centers and research institutes as well as more than 10,000 students and postgraduates at all levels and training systems. In 1995, the University established the Department of Chinese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and conducted training from bachelor to doctoral levels in Chinese studies. In June 2016, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan visited Ha Chau Academy and had a very good impression of the place. Therefore, the Vice Rector wishes to promote stronger relations with Ha Chau Academy.

In response, Associate Professor Chu Tuong Nhu made a number of cooperation proposals such as exchanging lecturers, as well as exchanges and meetings between students of the two schools. In the immediate future, Ha Chau Academy will send students and lecturers to participate in short-term courses at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Specifically, in October 2016, the Academy will send a delegation of leaders from the faculties to visit the University. In return, Ha Chau Academy wants to welcome students and lecturers of the University to exchange, practice and intern; at the same time, it hopes that the University will help in building the Vietnamese Language Department at the Academy. These activities will be legalized by an official cooperation document in the future between the two sides.

Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan pledged that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will create the best conditions for accommodation, living, and learning environment for Chinese students to study at the University. The University will also organize extracurricular activities and exchanges between students of the two schools to further strengthen mutual understanding. The Office of Cooperation and Development will be the focal point for implementing cooperation activities between the two sides.

Also during the working session, Associate Professor Chu Tuong Nhu visited the Museum of Anthropology of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Ha Chau Academy was established in 1943, currently has 784 staff, lecturers, 169 professors and associate professors, 271 masters and doctors, training 27 university majors and 35 college majors, total number of full-time students 10,210 people. The Academy is 1500 acres wide, construction area is more than 260,000m2. The library currently has 758,000 books and 195,000 types of e-books.
