You will see the image of an Asian girl trembling before the majestic nature of the world, cowering in fear when seeing a naked man for the first time, and excited about the opportunities to bring poetry… to foreign lands. You will meet the fates of Vietnamese people from all over the world, meet witches in Siquijor, and touch the horrors of violence and drugs in Colombia. You will travel across borders in a car, and witness strange things happen along the way. ... There will be many more interesting and exciting things when you join Nguyen Phan Que Mai in the travelogue.Salt Grain Playof this talented poet. Having lived and experienced traveling in many countries around the world, the four countries that left unforgettable impressions on Nguyen Phan Que Mai are: Australia, Colombia, Laos and the Philippines. Traveling through the famous landmarks of these four countries, the Vietnamese girl opened her eyes to stories of history, culture and the lives of the indigenous people:Forgotten Australians, Living with theDead man, Meeting a witch in Siquijor, “Go to the Philippines, be careful of being shot”, Almost died in Laos, Peace words from Colombia, Meeting a ghost in Villa de Leyava... Through many opportunities and with her own constant efforts, Nguyen Phan Que Mai has accumulated for herself knowledge, skills and wonderful experiences that not everyone is lucky enough to have. After reading this small book, you will love traveling more and sympathize more with the author's thoughts: "I started my trips with the enthusiasm and wildness of a young horse eager to glide through the majesty and wonder of the world. The more I traveled, the lower I felt, so that now I am a snail moving centimeter by centimeter on the endless ground. Very slowly, I traveled and received for myself the dust of the roads. The stories about the fate of the indigenous people are the mirrors that enlighten me, so that I know that I am just a small grain of salt, while the ocean is forever vast". In her book, Nguyen Phan Que Mai also humorously revealed that the reason she was able to travel to so many places was because she had a very large mole in the middle of her right foot. Try looking down at your feet?

Reading Nguyen Phan Que Mai's first travelogue (From Snow to the Sun), writer Bich Ngan once wrote, "Due to her living and working environment, Nguyen Phan Que Mai often gets to visit, work and live in many regions of many countries. Moreover, as a poet, wherever she goes and stays, the poetic soul of a poet helps her not to look at people and life with an overwhelming appearance on the outside. She quietly searches for deeper and broader dimensions." Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu once commented: "There is one thing I have realized and this is extremely important to Nguyen Phan Que Mai. That is, each of her trips to a land is not the way of a tourist nor the way of a researcher, but the way of a person who comes there to live her life to the fullest. ... She passionately recounted what she witnessed, so passionately that at times it seemed as if she and I were lost in those places, and had no hope of ever finding our way back..." |
