Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (left, Rector) received a gift from Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang presented to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Also attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Thien Nhan and many senior officials of ministries and branches of the Vietnamese Government, representatives of VNU and its member units.
On behalf of the teachers, students and trainees of the whole school, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) expressed his joy and honor to welcome Prime Minister Li Keqiang and senior officials of the two countries to visit. The Rector briefly introduced the history and training tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The school is a prestigious cradle of training Vietnamese language and culture, having trained thousands of Chinese students, many of whom have become famous Vietnamese scholars and senior diplomats. The Rector said that the visit and work of the delegation of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam will open up new development opportunities between the two countries in general and promote cooperation between educational institutions in particular for the benefit of the young generation.
In his welcoming speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh said: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a prestigious cradle of Vietnamese language and culture training, having trained many Chinese international students, many of whom have become famous Vietnamese scholars and senior diplomats.
Reviewing the development of the Vietnam-China relationship over the past century, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that the relationship between the two countries has gone through many challenges in history and is a priceless common asset that each of us needs to be responsible for preserving and promoting in the new context. The leaders of the two parties and two countries have determined to develop the relationship between the two countries according to the motto "Friendly neighbors - Comprehensive cooperation - Long-term stability - Towards the future" and in the spirit of "Good neighbors - Good friends - Good comrades - Good partners". "Strategic and comprehensive partnership" is a long-term policy and top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy towards China.
Since 1992, the relationship between the two countries in the field of education and training has been increasingly developed. Currently, there are more than 13,000 Vietnamese students studying at nearly 100 Chinese universities and 3,000 Chinese students studying in Vietnam. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said: "These will be cultural ambassadors of our country, making an important contribution to promoting trust and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries."
Speaking to a large number of officials and students, Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang reiterated the tradition of good friendship between the people of the two countries: “The friendship between China and Vietnam is special. Over many generations, the leaders and people of the two countries have continuously cultivated the friendship between Vietnam and China to become deeper and deeper.” He said that the official visit of the high-ranking Chinese delegation to Vietnam this time is to consolidate the cooperative relationship between the two sides, open up new areas of cooperation and promote the cooperative relationship between the two countries in the direction of: “long-term – healthy – stable”.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang spoke and answered questions from students from both countries.
Speaking about the role of the younger generation, the Chinese Prime Minister emphasized: “The future of Vietnam-China friendship lies in the students, in the younger generation of the two countries”. It is the young people who will inherit, maintain and promote the good cooperative relationship, passing it on from generation to generation. To fulfill this responsibility, young people need to know how to cherish time to constantly strive to study, practice and strive to become contributors to the cause of national construction and promote friendly cooperation between the two nations. Prime Minister Li Keqiang said that he hopes that in the future, there will be more opportunities for young people of the two countries to interact, exchange information and learn about each other. The Prime Minister said: “If the younger generations of the two countries join hands, we can completely believe in the bright future prospects of the two countries”.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Li Keqiang also took time to answer questions from Vietnamese and Chinese students and presented some books to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
