During the meeting, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh introduced the main achievements in training, scientific research, and the main research directions of the University; emphasizing the goal of building a research university, strengthening research projects, especially international publications. As a leading training and research center in the Vietnamese higher education community, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has established cooperative relationships with Canadian universities such as the University of Toronto, the University of Ottawa, the University of Quebec at Montreal, and the University of Quebec En Abitibi Témiscamingue. The Vice-Rector proposed implementing cooperation between the University and Canadian universities in areas such as joint research projects, faculty exchange, and student exchange.

Ambassador David Devine expressed his interest in the research situation on Canada in particular and North America in general at the University. According to the Ambassador, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is one of the few institutions that provides training and research on Canada, and this meeting is a good opportunity for both sides to learn about each other. The Ambassador hopes to act as a bridge for cooperation between the University and universities in Canada.
On March 4, 2015, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh, along with many faculty members and students from the Department of International Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, attended a presentation by Mr. HE David Devine, the Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam, on the topic "Strong Women, Strong World".
