At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan briefly introduced the main achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in training and researching on Southeast Asian issues. The Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University is one of the prestigious institutions in Vietnam, having implemented the PhD training program in Southeast Asian Studies since 2007. The University has also organized many international conferences on Southeast Asia and ASEAN in particular, the most recent of which was the conference “Religion, Economy and the ASEAN Community” held on October 23, 2017. The University expressed its desire to cooperate with the Institute in activities such as organizing presentations, seminars and discussions on issues in ASEAN and Southeast Asia.
In response, Dr. Terence Chong said that as a research and education institution on Southeast Asia, the Singapore Institute of Southeast Asian Studies aims to establish a community of scholars interested in regional issues, including Vietnamese researchers. Therefore, the Institute is willing to create conditions for lecturers and students of the University to have the opportunity to receive scholarships, participate in study and research in Singapore.
Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan suggested that the two sides should maintain regular contact to promptly notify necessary information to the staff, lecturers and students of the School. The Department of Cooperation and Development will be the main focal point for all cooperation activities between the two sides.

Established in 1968, the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies is a public education and research institution in Singapore run by the Ministry of Education, Singapore. The Institute conducts a wide range of research activities on Southeast Asia, including organizing seminars, lectures and symposia, publishing research journals, books and journals, and supporting the establishment of research facilities such as libraries. The Institute's main research programmes are Regional Economic Studies, Regional Political and Strategic Studies, and Regional Socio-Cultural Studies. The Institute has a large library with over one million publications on the fields of economics, politics, international relations and culture in Southeast Asia.
