Sad news: Professor and People's Teacher Ha Van Tan has passed away.

 Professor, People's Teacher Ha Van Tan (1937-2019)

Professor, People's Teacher Ha Van Tan Born in 1937 in Nghi Xuan District, Ha Tinh Province, he was the former Director of the Institute of Archaeology, former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Archaeology, former Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, former Deputy Director of the Buddhist Studies Research Institute, and former Head of the Department of Historical Methodology, Faculty of History, Hanoi University.

He received the Ho Chi Minh Prize, the First and Third Class Labor Orders, the Third Class Anti-American Resistance Order, and many other prestigious awards.

Due to old age and frail health, he passed away at 9:00 PM on November 27, 2019 (corresponding to November 2nd in the Lunar calendar, Year of the Pig) at the National Geriatric Hospital. He was 83 years old.

The memorial service will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on December 2nd, 2019 at the National Funeral Home, No. 5, Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi.

Cremation will take place on the same day at the Hoan Vu Crematorium, Van Dien, Thanh Tri, Hanoi.

The funeral service was held at 5:00 AM on December 5, 2019, at Lac Hong Vien Cemetery, Ky Son District, Hoa Binh Province.
