Attending the opening ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Kay Chuan (Chief Evaluator), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kiran Kaur (Evaluator of the Bachelor of History Program) and other members of the delegation; on the side of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, there were Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang (Vietnam National University, Hanoi Scientific Council), Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy (Director of the Institute for Quality Assurance in Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi); on the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Rector) along with representatives of the leadership and lecturers of the Faculty of History and functional departments.

At the opening session, Professor Pham Quang Minh shared that in the era of competition and international integration, other universities are facing many challenges in asserting their position. Therefore, quality accreditation is very important because this activity contributes to identifying and overcoming limitations; thereby improving the reputation and expanding international relations of universities. For the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the quality accreditation activity according to AUN-QA standards is still in the initial stage and has a long way to go. Therefore, the University is committed to cooperating fully with the AUN-QA evaluation team in the coming days, in order to continue the success of previous programs.

On behalf of the AUN evaluation team, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Kay Chuan highly appreciated the University of Social Sciences and Humanities' attention to quality assurance. He also emphasized the importance of the History discipline in maintaining national identity and heritage, creating a foundation for the country's integration and expansion of international relations. To ensure the quality of history research and training, higher education institutions need to have sufficient resources in terms of human resources, facilities, learning materials, etc. In this program, the AUN-QA evaluation team's task is to assist the History Department and the University in accurately assessing and developing these resources.

Following the opening session, there will be specific working sessions between the AUN-QA assessment team and relevant individuals and organizations. Subsequent assessment sessions will continue until December 11th.

This is the sixth time the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has organized a quality assessment activity according to the standards of the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). Since 2014, the University has carried out this work with six other undergraduate programs: Linguistics (2014), Oriental Studies (2015), Philosophy (2016), Literature (2017), Psychology and Sociology (2018).
