Attending the opening ceremony were Associate Professor Dr. Tan Kay Chuan (chief evaluator), Associate Professor Dr. Kiran Kaur (evaluator of the History Bachelor's Program) and officials of the delegation; on the side of VNU, there were Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang (VNU Scientific Council), Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy (Director of the Institute for Quality Assurance of VNU Education); on the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Principal of the University), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Principal of the University), Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Principal of the University), Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Principal of the University) and representatives of the leaders, lecturers of the Faculty of History, and functional departments.
At the opening session, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh shared that in the era of international competition and integration, other universities are facing many challenges in asserting their position. Therefore, quality assessment is very important because this activity contributes to identifying and overcoming limitations; thereby improving the reputation and expanding the international relations of universities. For the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the quality assessment activities according to AUN-QA standards are still in the initial stage and there is a long way to go. Therefore, the University is committed to fully cooperate with the AUN-QA Assessment Team in the coming days, in order to continue the success of previous programs.

On behalf of the AUN Evaluation Team, Associate Professor Dr. Tan Kay Chuan highly appreciated the attention of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to quality assurance. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of the History major in maintaining national identity and heritage, creating a foundation for the country's integration and expansion of international relations. To ensure the quality of historical research and training, higher education institutions need to gather sufficient resources in terms of human resources, facilities, learning materials, etc. In this program, the task of the AUN-QA Evaluation Team is to help the Faculty of History and the University accurately evaluate and promote those resources.

Following the opening session, there will be specific working sessions between the AUN-QA assessment team and relevant individuals and units. The following assessment sessions will last until December 11.

This is the 6th time that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has organized a quality assessment activity according to the standards of the ASEAN University Network (AUN-QA). Since 2014, the University has carried out this work with 6 other undergraduate training programs: Linguistics (2014), Oriental Studies (2015), Philosophy (2016), Literature (2017), Psychology and Sociology (2018).
