Vice Principal Hoang Anh Tuan at the 2019 Veterans' Work Summary Conference
As of October 2019, the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has 31 members, operating in 7 branches, of which 29 are party members, 14 members are elected to the Party Committee at all levels.
Last year, the members of the Association effectively participated in the activities of the School, strictly implemented the training regulations and labor discipline, contributing to improving the quality of training. As teachers and scientists, the members have exemplary fulfilled their assigned professional tasks, actively carried out scientific research tasks such as conducting topics, writing scientific articles, participating in seminars, academic exchange programs... Teachers also carried out well the movements of the education sector such as: "Studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh", "Each teacher, teacher, and educational manager is an example of morality, self-study and creativity"...
In particular, the School's War Veterans Association has effectively coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the School's Student Association in propagating and educating revolutionary traditions for the younger generation, thereby arousing noble ideals and a spirit of humanity and compassion among students.
Outstanding activities of the School's Association of War Veterans in the past year include: coordinating with the Forever 20 Fund to organize the program "Sacred Vietnam"; the "Back to the source" journey to visit the Lang Son battlefield; participating in organizing the international scientific conference "Memories, memories and archives about Vietnam - humanistic values viewed from many perspectives"; coordinating with the School's Trade Union and Youth Union to visit wounded soldiers at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation of Meritorious People in Thai Binh Province; Meeting wounded soldiers and relatives of martyrs currently working at the school, to show gratitude for the sacrifices of previous generations...
With the above achievements, the Association of War Veterans of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and comrade Pham Thanh Hung (member) were honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association.
At the conference, members proposed that there should be a form of gratitude and commemoration for generations of teachers and students who were martyrs on the campus of the University. Because the period when hundreds of lecturers and students of Hanoi National University "put down their pens" and went to war - including those who became martyrs and Heroes of the People's Armed Forces such as Le Anh Xuan and Chu Cam Phong - will forever be a glorious page in history, which needs to be engraved in the history of the development of the University and the country. Those precious spiritual values and traditions need to be widely spread among students.
In addition, members of the Association of War Veterans in Humanities - who are teachers, scientists, and managers in the field of education - also pondered and discussed how the Association of War Veterans in Schools could further affirm its pioneering and key role in the work of "passing on the torch" and educating revolutionary ethics to the younger generation.
Attending and speaking at the Conference, Vice Principal Hoang Anh Tuan respectfully acknowledged the practical results that the School's Veterans Association has achieved in the past year of activities, especially in terms of spreading the tradition of revolutionary ethics, multiplying the humanistic spirit of the Vietnamese people, as well as cultivating the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking" of the School's teachers and students.
At the same time, Vice Principal Hoang Anh Tuan called on members to actively participate in giving opinions and advice on short-term operational plans and long-term development strategies of the School.
On the occasion of attending the Conference and to express gratitude for the contributions of the School's veterans, Vice Principal Hoang Anh Tuan donated 5 million VND to the Association's operating fund; and hoped that the Association's meaningful activities would continue to receive both material and spiritual support from individuals and groups inside and outside the school.
